As dark and hopeless as our world looked last Thanksgiving Day things have turned around and there is much to be optimistic about and thankful for this year.
Counting our blessings is still easier here in America than in any other country. Even the poorest Americans eat meals many of the world’s citizens only dream about.
We have a Bill of Rights and a full Constitution to protect us thanks to our Founding Fathers. Because of the foresight of those great men, we have the legal and moral tools we need to prevail against even the worst tyrants. Other societies don’t have anything like our Bill of Rights and would never be “granted” one by their ruling classes.
America: One of God’s favored countries
America is clearly one of God’s favorite countries, so we will succeed in making things right again. The stunning fall from favor of Barack Obama and his Marxist Democrats is proof that the Hand of Providence has not forsaken us. God has not abandoned America, and for this blessing we must be grateful.
America is still the country the world’s people want to come to; she is still the country God has favored because we are His instrument for working His will.
We can now see undeniable signs that the ‘stand up and fight’ resolve we had last November is paying dividends. This swerve to the left is survivable because we are NOT a people attracted to socialism.
Our dark days are by no means fully behind us. The damage caused by putting a Marxist enemy of freedom in the White House is far from over. But as Churchill said: “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end, but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”

I’m thankful that American’s are finally waking up along with the church and finally putting or foot down. I’m thankful for climategate. I’m thankful I was born in the most wonderful God created country in the world. I’m thankful to be alive now and in this time. I’m thankful for our wonderful men and women in uniform and very proud of them. I’m thankful for my family and most of all I’m thankful for the saving grace of Jesus Christ and that I have the privilege of having a relationship with the creator of the Universe.
With a true conservative spirit, we shouldn’t pretend to be grateful for the neglected and rusted car up on blocks in the yard, because it is a wreck and needs a lot of work to fix; instead we should be grateful that we both realize it is a wreck, and should look forward to the *hard work* involved in fixing it.
It’s a trick and a trap to be grateful for less and less as each year goes by, which is in its own way the flip side to being ungrateful for abundance. Instead we should be grateful that we still have the intestinal fortitude to continue to make and preserve our own substance and fortunes.
In this spirit, we should look at the national government of the United States. Though neglected, rusted, and nearly falling apart, many still want to cling to the *nostalgia* of what it was intended to be, and for many years, indeed was. But do not fool yourself, because it is a wreck, and if it continues to decay, there will be nothing worth repair.
So let us be thankful that through a renewed sense of federalism, the individual States, and the people, with an enormous amount of hard work, can eventually restore the national government to what it was intended to be, and to good working order.
The individual States have the tools to do so, and to their credit they have begun the process, but they need the support and encouragement of the people so that we all together can get to work, to repair and replace, to mend and fix, so that we once again have a national government as intended.
So now let us be thankful for the good, honest work. And perhaps when this work is done, we can have a functional and good national government, not just nostalgia for what once was—gratitude for a rusted wreck.
And then, we will truly have something to be thankful for.
He has sent us a genuine, certifiable jerk to "run" our country just to give us a glimpse of what happens when He is kicked out of a society.
Zer0 has no sense, he forges doggedly ahead with his agenda in spite of all the opposition from the rest of the American people. He arrogantly uses the White House for extravagant in-your-face parties while the rest of the country contends with the effects of the policies Zero has implemented.
Zer0's approval rating is plunging, there is chaos in his own party, all the while the opposition is getting stronger by the hour.
There are only 11 months left to the next elections, and God willing, Zer0's power will be reduced to attending state funerals and delivering commencement addresses to high schools that can be coerced to invite him.
I’m praying Voltaire’s prayer these days:
“Oh God! Make my enemies ridiculous!”
Seems to be working.
There is one thing for which we should be MOST thankful—the Second Amendment. Without it, the United States would already be a Marxist dictatorship.
