President Obama continued his outreach to the world's Muslims today, sending greetings to pilgrims to Mecca.
....
"Michelle and I would like to send our best wishes to all those performing Hajj this year, and to Muslims in America and around the world who are celebrating Eid-ul-Adha. The rituals of Hajj and Eid-ul-Adha both serve as reminders of the shared Abrahamic roots of three of the worlds major religions," Obama said in a statement.
"During Hajj, the worlds largest and most diverse gathering, three million Muslims from all walks of life including thousands of American Muslims will stand in prayer on Mount Arafat. The following day, Muslims around the world will celebrate Eid-ul-Adha and distribute food to the less fortunate to commemorate Abrahams willingness to sacrifice his son out of obedience to God," the president added in the statement, translated on the White House website into Arabic, Persian, Dari, Urdu, Pashto, Russian, and French.
....
"On behalf of the American people, we would like to extend our greetings during this Hajj season Eid Mubarak."

That is the trick of this century friend. It must be down with care.
I’m surprised that this greeting was reported in the Boston Globe. Have any other American President ever issued such a greeting?
I’m poo pooed the idea he’s a secret Muslim, insisting that he’s an atheist.
Maybe I’m wrong again.
Some things about Islamic culture are too insane to believe, but naming a (supposedly) holy mountain for Yasser Arafat takes the cake! (Or was the name "Arafat" derived from the mountain? Either way, not a very good match!)
I don't know it for a fact, but I'd lay odds that no other American president has ever issued a statement even remotely similar to this.
Diversity? Cool! Can I go to Mecca, too? I promise not to smear Jooo juice all over everything.
Thanks for the ping!
Pretty much. “Stet” means let it stand, don’t change...
;)
Kind of like “AMEN!”
Like your tagline, Brother!
