Naeem Khan has dressed Beyonce, Alicia Keys and Katherine Heigl, but it appears to have taken First Lady Michelle Obama, who wore his custom-made strapless silver-and-cream gown to a state dinner Tuesday night, to make him a household name. (If Khan gets a smidgen of the press that Jason Wu and Isabel Toledo got for designing Obama's Inauguration Day ensembles. we'll be thrilled for him.)
Khan, an Indian-born designer who shows at New York Fashion Week, consistently turns out jaw-droppingly gorgeous eveningwear, though he has been branching out in recent seasons. His signatures are ethnic embroideries, dazzling colors, and bold embellishments, like this stunner worn by Keys to the BET Honors last year.
Khan says the gown took 40 people three weeks to complete at the designer's family workshop in India.

The rear view looks like something out of the movie ‘Big Momma’s House!’

Well, as I live and breathe, First Frump actually looks respectable for a change.
Wonder if she’s wearing a pair of her custom-made $900 boots underneath? You know, the kind that all those unemployed Americans are wearing when they shop at Goodwill.

The Indian PM is Sikh and Sikhs, very often, have the last name Khan.

“designers family workshop in India.
Hm-m-m-m-m, don’t I seem to remember some mention of “outsourcing” during the campaign? Oh, yeah, that issue is only a problem if a Republican is involved. It’s OK for First Frump to wear a dress made by slave labor.

I’d rather see Sarah in a feed sack than Michelle in anything short of a perp suit.

Something more modest up top and in price would have been appropriate. Dress is nice but not for Govt function. Indian woman looks so modest and proper.
I think Michelle is the appropriate one here. A lovely dinner gown. The indian lady looks like any average lady on any average day in India.
And don't think that I am normally a defender of Michelle. Yesterday, in the "michelle buys thigh high boots" thread, I was the one that photoshopped thigh high boots onto a wookie.

I think it obeys this simple formula for a ‘family workshop’.
Not all the workers are children.
But all of the children are workers.
