The University of East Anglia has released statements from Prof Trevor Davies, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, Prof Phil Jones, head of the Climatic Research Unit, and from CRU.
Statement from Professor Trevor Davies, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Research
The publication of a selection of the emails and data stolen from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) has led to some questioning of the climate science research published by CRU and others. There is nothing in the stolen material which indicates that peer-reviewed publications by CRU, and others, on the nature of global warming and related climate change are not of the highest-quality of scientific investigation and interpretation. CRUs peer-reviewed publications are consistent with, and have contributed to, the overwhelming scientific consensus that the climate is being strongly influenced by human activity. The interactions of the atmosphere, oceans, land, and ice mean that the strongly-increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere do not produce a uniform year-on-year increase in global temperature. On time-scales of 5-10 years, however, there is a broad scientific consensus that the Earth will continue to warm, with attendant changes in the climate, for the foreseeable future. It is important, for all countries, that this warming is slowed down, through substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions to reduce the most dangerous impacts of climate change. Respected international research groups, using other data sets, have come to the same conclusion.
The University of East Anglia and CRU are committed to scientific integrity, open debate and enhancing understanding. ...The publication of a selection of stolen data is the latest example of a sustained and, in some instances, a vexatious campaign which may have been designed to distract from reasoned debate...

“The University of East Anglia and CRU are committed to scientific integrity, open debate and enhancing understanding.
Interesting, since they won’t publicly release their data or formulas...”
Also interesting that they tried to stifle debate by shunning peer review publications that published articles by the heretics...or “sceptics” as they called them.
Errr... but it's been cooling... That's the problem you liar!
If they are in favor of “open debate”, then they should release all their emails. It would enhance our understanding of what they are doing. Ditto for all the other AGW institutes.
If you scroll down to the comments, the author sincerely apologizes for being a lousy journalist.
Interesting thought. If it could be proven....How DO they track a hacker?
Saw Begley earlier today.
I thought someone from FNC was going to have to dart gun him.

Was he not just the ‘walking stereotype’ libtard? I love how he was screaming at Varney about the ‘credentials’ of scientists......and how we should only believe those with ‘letters’ after their names. LOL! Typical.
Moreover, a "scientist" who refuses to release his raw data or his source code should be ostracized by the other members of his profession, and his work should be ignored.
To take a contrary stand is to undermine perhaps the most important pillar of empirical science, which is the ability to replicate the findings of an experiment or study.

Both definitely worth reading, sharing and joining in, IMHO.

It is a religion - it’s a Secular Apocalyptic Religion that has its own monks and chastisements and cells and heretics and like all other false religions its central tenet is Mammon, earthly delight and lucre.
I guess it’s a little much to expect them to say:
‘You caught us! We admit it’s all a hoax.’
They are going to continue to do what they have been caught doing in the emails: Lie, obfuscate and do everything in their power to prevent the release of the documents.
They really need to cut their losses, admit fault and be done with it. This is spinning in the wildest sense.
This is very reminiscent of CBS’ spin, when, after they were caught pushing a forged document to undercut Bush’s ANG training documents. (paraphrased) “Though the document is determined to be not entirely authentic, we remain in firm agreement with the essence of its meaning.”
Its an isolated incident.
That’s not the Climate Change data I knew.
Computer hackers have obtained 160 megabytes of e-mails from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in England. These e-mails, which have now been confirmed as real, involved many researchers across the globe with ideologically similar advocates around the world. They were brazenly discussing the destruction and hiding of data that did not support global warming claims. The academics here also worked closely with the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Professor Phil Jones, the head of the Climate Research Unit, and Professor Michael Mann at Pennsylvania State University, who has been an important scientist in the climate debate, have come under particular scrutiny.
Among his e-mails, Professor Jones talks to Professor Mann about the "trick of adding in the real temps to each series...to hide the decline [in temperature]."..."
Another professor at the Climate Research Unit, Tim Osborn, discusses in e-mails how truncating a data series can hide a cooling trend that would otherwise be seen in the results. Professor Mann sent Professor Osborn an e-mail saying that the results he is sending shouldn't be shown to others because the results support critics of global warming. Time after time the discussions refer to hiding or destroying data. ..."

Post Climategate, How Long Will They Allow the Rouse to Continue?
The Anthopegenic Global Warming theory is the biggest hoax that's ever been perpetrated.
