Happy Eid al-Adha Best Buy Ad Sparks Debate

RICHFIELD, Minn. - A scanned version of the Best Buy Black Friday ad on BestBuy.com wishes Muslims a happy Eid al-Adha, which falls on the extended Thanksgiving weekend.

Since the ad was posted, a message board on BestBuy.com has filled up with plenty of responses. Tuesday morning, a discussion of the ad on BestBuy.com had more than 100 responses. Some of those comments were supportive of the greeting and some called for a boycott of the retailer, including boldly racist remarks.

Here's a look at some of the posts on the BestBuy.com message board :

I worked part time at Best Buy two years ago and am shocked by this! The sad thing is that I think it will cost Best Buy a lot of business, and some MAJOR bad publicity which will hurt the employees who had nothing to do with the decision. What in the heck were you thinking Best Buy?????

-christmas_shopr

Happy Eid Al-Adha but no Merry Christmas? I assume your next advertisements will say Merry Christmas. Otherwise, I will no longer shop at Best Buy. I will shop at those businesses which support Christmas.

-joclaire

Thank you Best Buy for the Eid Greetings!! I plan to spend more money at BB. Thank you for being inclusive of various cultures.

-Peacepro123

Best Buy community supervisor Elizabeth responded to the comments with the following statement :

"Thanks for sharing your point of view regarding our recent ad, which included a wish for a “Happy Eid al-Adha”.

Best Buy’s customers and employees around the world represent a variety of faiths and denominations. We respect that diversity and choose to greet our customers and employees in ways that reflect their traditions.

I see that the muslims left nice comments on their site and so do some stupid lefty idiots.

So they have no problem saying those words to a group who seems to be always being out terrorist and yet Christians are now allowed to have their holiday being said

When will these left wing idiots actually wake up ?

Of course muslims are happy they see this as another step of their cult being advanced and accepted well just wait if they ever get a decent foothold in this country and they start killing the homosexuals and anyone who opposes them

oh wait they already do

I think I will walk into one of their stores proudly munching a sausage egg and cheese b-fast sandwich.

This insult to Christmas goes along with Best Buy's booting the Salvation Army bell ringers from the entrance of their stores awhile back.

Since Circuit City folded my shopping choices for electronics are (in order):

Amazon.com

Tiger Direct

Sam's Club

Walmart

Office Depot

Hopefully, I'll never have to set foot in a BB store again.

About the same time the scimitar is coming down on their necks.

Have you seen Best Buy’s everyday prices? I don’t understand how they get away with calling themselves “Best Buy”.

Not surprised. I stopped shopping there 3 years ago over their BS script they force their cashiers to follow:

Best Buy dude: do you have a rewards card?
Me: nope
Best Buy dude: No? Then what is your phone number?
Me: I just want to buy your stuff. STFU or I’ll go somewhere else.

Political Correctness dictates that diversity needn’t include Christianity.

I quit BB back in the early 90s when I bought a 486 laptop for my work (contract programmer). Two weeks later the screen died. Took it back for a refund - no refund - will “repair it”. Told them I needed it for my work and they assured me two weeks max. A month later they still were stalling. Unfortunately in the meantime I had made a $400 payment (one year same as cash). I requested repayment since they were a no show and I had to get another laptop elsewhere. They never answered.

Two months later they said “pick it up”. Told them no dice as they reneged on everything they promised. Four months later they turned the account over to a collection agency saying that I never paid for the unit - that they still had. Plus, a $1600 unit was now $2,200 with “late fees”. Seven years later it dropped off my credit rating. One shady, overpriced outfit.

Wal-Mart is evil because all the things they sell are from China.
Can’t do Sam’s either because they are part of W-M.
Target kept the Salvation Army out.
Costco & Amazon are run by liberals.
Most chain grocery stores are staffed by unionized employees.
Scratch Best Buy of the list now with their muslim ad.

The only acceptable FReeper shopping location is the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store (unless you take shots at Catholics)

I emailed investor relations and asked what fool thought this was a good idea, awaiting their stupid response. I also sent out the article to everyone in my address book and urged them to think before shopping there.

I just bought a spanking new entertainment center. All components bought on the net and no Best Buy. We have a lot of shopping options.

This from a company who thinks it’s an insult to wish someone a Merry Christmas .
Stopped shopping there years ago , same as Target .
No Merry Christmas , no money.
The whole Salvation Army thing was horrible too.
