Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist
Fox News ^ | Tuesday, November 24, 2009 | By Rowan Scarborough

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And for their trouble, three of the SEALs, members of the Navy's elite commando unit, are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.

The three have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral's mast — and requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

What about noogies? If you capture a wanted terrorist, are you allowed to at least give him a noogie while apprehending him?

Oh, no, we can't have Navy SEALS going around giving terrorists noogies. That would be so insensitive! Noogies are almost as bad as putting underwear on their heads. /s

I can't believe this is happening, either. The whole world has gone insane.

This is a continuation of the way our troops were treated under the Bush regime. It is PC at its very worst.

This reminds me of the story line in the latest Mitch Rapp novel. He got in trouble for “hitting” a terrorist while interrogating him. I am sickened about our SEALS. Hopefully, the american public will be up in arms.

I was just thinking of that Marines scene in Aliens as well. I think the non-brass guys who put themselves in harm’s way will have to do what Vasquez did..keep a secret stash away from prying eyes in order to do what NEEDS to be done.

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq ... Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it. ... The military is sensitive to charges of detainee abuse highlighted in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal.

These charges are complete nonsense. From the news story, the charges against these SEALS are based solely on POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, and such influences have absolutely no place in a military theater. Rather than being charged, these SEALS should receive Commendations or a Meritorious Mast.

These three SEAL officers succeeded in capturing an STATED valuable military objective. Irrespective of the findings in any court, these three brave men who risk their lives, will forever have an UNDESERVED negative indicator on their service records.

Finally, their choice to face a Courts Martial rather than an Admiral's Mast is a good choice and indicates to me that these three officers performed their duties to the highest standards.

This is insane and a moral killer...I just don’t understand, is our military allowed to fight or not?

Whoever is responsible for bringing charges should lose their job pronto. And the SEALs should get medals.

I agree with you 100% and have seen this one before. (Ret AF also)

These Seals obviously have a hyper-sensitive commander. In order to protect himself, he likely tried to give them Article 15s (which only require a nominal amount of review...just to make sure the i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed on the paperwork). And I’d bet he never figure that the Seals would not sign.

It’s most likely that, had this case not been picked up by a news outlet, it would have dropped. But now that it has made the news, they will have a really hard time doing so. The lefties won’t allow it (another way to get those “baby-killers”)

What happens next is that they try to give these guys a summary court martial (which is like a podunk municipal court before a judge only). Not much better, but at least somebody independent of the commander is looking at the case. They may decide to accept that; but it is just as likely that they refuse the summary court and demand a special or general court martial...

If the Seals do demand a special or general court martial, I hope that Fox News has a real good reporter available to sit in on the proceedings (except in the case of national security, courts martial are always open to the public). I bet that this could be a barn-burner...a chance to expose some totally ineffectual politically-correct leadership.

Remember you said you didn't care if we have another 911 as long as it wasn't on our time?

So why are you screaming about what's happening now?

Remember Ft.Hood? That was the first terrorists attack on our soil since 911.

You voted for this POS, knowing or certainly should have known how he would treat our military.

You Sir, are a hypocrite.
