I hate to be the cynic, but sometimes cynicism and realism fall into alignment. I know this story has gotten a fair deal of traction in Europe, but apart from a few conservative sites and talk radio, there's been dead silence on this story in the U.S. I look at how the Rockefeller Memorandum played out a few years ago, when bald faced admissions were made that the Dems were going to use the Senate Intelligence committee data for outright political purposes. The media manipulated the story in such a way that the deliberate misuse of the data was a non-story, and the "scandal" became all about how the memorandum fell into the hands of GOP staffers. I suspect a similar course for this story. Our culture has been so saturated with the global warming myth that virtually every person has heard the phrase, and may give more or less credence to it. The truth is, most Americans have never, nor ever will hear about the "CRU emails" and will dismiss it as a sideline story in the ongoing debate...reading the details would just take too much work.
I wish it were not true, and certainly, I'll do my share in the Sisyphean task of trying to educate my acquaintances, but even as startling as these revelations should be to thinking people, I suspect they will be of little import when it comes to results. < /wet blanket>
