Bennet is an accidental Senator. He's from out of state and was Superintendent of Denver Public Schools when appointed. He has no base. He has to please his party to get funding for reelection even if this vote costs him votes. In the votes versus money equation for a politician, funding is the life blood that allows the campaigning for votes.
