Monthly siren test planned Tuesday
By the Herald staff

Sirens will sound in southern Benton County at noon Tuesday as part of the monthly test of tone alert radios and warning sirens in case of an emergency at the Umatilla Chemical Depot.

Twenty sirens will be activated, followed by a message broadcast in English and Spanish. Households with emergency tone alert radios also will hear a tone and message.

The East Oregonian

Gang activity is on the upswing on reservations around the nation, especially in the Midwest, Southwest and Northwest.

“Gangs are here on the Umatilla Reservation,” Grant said. “Gang activity has been occurring on or near the Umatilla Reservation for a number of years, but has escalated over the past two years.””
