They will go home for Thanksgiving recess? They come back when to finalize? Is it another vote or are you talking about reconcilliation?
NO there is another 60 vote cloture vote after the debate is over. That is where Lieberman stated he will filibuster the bill if the public option is still there.
I don’t drink much anymore; but I will be observing the cloture vote on C-SPAN this evening with a cold and frosty Arrogant Bastard Ale; ‘cause that’s just what these Senators are...arrogant bastards. Each and every one.
I can’t even watch the coverage anymore on Fox. I refuse to watch America die in front of my eyes
Liebermann apparently will vote yes today to allow for debate on the bill, or its a vote to end debate, Im not sure which. Lieb says he will vote no on the actual bill however. This is the 1st big test for this bill, if this vote today passes then most likely it will steamrollthrough by the end of the year. And the LA whore will vote yes seeing as she secured 100 million for her state.
Ahhh but that is when they go nuclear. The Dems will use a loophole and say they only need 51 votes the next time around. They know they can not get the votes with the abortion and public option in the bill.
EVERYONE has to go !!
THROW ALL THE BUMS OUT !!
you are correct. just like the amnesty bill which was stopped at debate cloture.
Some posts have this right (It is a confusing proces) - - Today is just a motion to proceed - it takes 60 votes. That basically opens up the debate. IN order to close the debate (Cloture) it requires 60 votes again. This will likely not be until December at some point and where Lieberman really comes into play since he’s against the public option. I have a feeling the dems will change it to public option with a trigger (lose Lieberman but gain Snowe). Once they get 60 for ‘cloture’, then it moves to an up and down vote where they need 51.
I called Lincoln’s office and they said she’s making her announcement this afternoon (I’m sure it’s a yes for tonight).
that cloture vote is stop debate on the bill.
that is where lieberman stated he would filibuster the bill.
Its the best topic. unless something changes they won’t be able to pass a final bill in the house that funds or doesn’t fund abortion. Abortion is the line in the sand.
I can’t watch any more either!
Going over to Westwood (L.A.) to federal building to march along with protesting doctors/other medical staffers in ‘milliion med march’ going on in several cities today.
Noon, 11000 Wilshire Blvd. - park behind building.
I feel better getting out and doing something than sitting here feeling helpless. It’s interesting to hear all the horns honking in support on that major street in what is normally Obama-land, Westwood (near UCLA).
Hope to see some L.A. area folks out there today! Will report back later....
Thank God for Lieberman then. At least the public option won’t pass.
If Liberman votes with the Repubs and the GOP holds together that is 41 votes right?
He is against public option. Aetna insurance and others are in CT. I though the docs and insurance companies would have put up a bigger fight.
If Liberman and the GOP block it because Joe is against public option - what is left of the bill? It is all about public option?
they can not use the nuclear option now . the deadline to ram that thru was Oct 15 . this bill would be ripped to shreds by the GOP using procedural moves linked to the tax aspects of the bill.
I might stop by later on today. What time does it start, I can take a bus over there, I’m close to Wilshire so I would just need to take 1 bus. We have to stop this monstrosity immediately
I agree, I have it on C-SPAN however I muted it and am watching the movie "Animal Farm" on UTube presently...
Hearing these despicable human beings on the senate floor calling for passage of this bill to raise taxes to take the burden off of business so they can afford to hire more workers is just too much an insult to ones intelligence to tolerate.
Big deal, so they will call it Government Run instead of Public option, either way its the same thing
