AUSTIN Here's what I did not hear at the annual confab of Republican governors held here this week: The words socialist, extremist, or government takeover. With the focus on jobs, jobs and jobs, the only red meat was the Texas barbecue. And by design, there was no Obama-bashing.
[snip]
Barbour cautioned Republican candidates to refrain from attacking the president, period: "People want the president to succeed; good Lord, they want the country to succeed, and particularly the first African-American president has a lot of goodwill. . . . We need to be careful, we need to treat the president respectfully, we need to make this about policies, not personal. . . . This is a guy people like.''

We’re screwed.
They will never learn.

Caution: Rhino crossing
This “New Tone” is getting really, really OLD!!!
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find only things evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelogus
The Governor is correct at this moment!
Did they learn nothing from McCain’s “kinder gentler” approach? Or President Bush’s for that matter? Are these guys running for office or sainthood? Or maybe they don’t care about winning anymore, just keeping their cushy jobs with the perks and privileges. They got theirs, to hell with America.
I’m speechless.
The stupidity of the Republican party takes my breath away.
Policies
NOT
Pigment
He’s Half White,right?
We Had a Good Run, 225 Years, it’s over.
Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!
They are “above” calling a Marxist Kenyan cripple us forever with Healthcare and providing Miranda rights to our would-be killers.
This is what got McCain tossed out on his a$$.
Is Haley losing his touch? No, people don't want Obama's policies to succeed. If he suceeds, the country is screwed for who knows how long. We want Obama to fail, as Rush said months ago.
If most candidates follow the loony advice from that meeting, then they'll cut the potential wins in half. Candidates need to talk about real issues in plain language, not this PC lite nonsense these folks seem to be recommending.
"I guess Justice Robert Jackson is wrong - The Constitution IS a suicide pact."
Sure they do, and they again seem to be taking the base 100% for granted.
He is trying to socialize or otherwise destroy everything this country was founded on. He is trying to destroy traditional marriage and make sure every baby possible is aborted. On these things I will oppose him in every way possible.
And to think these Rhino/Whino morons keep sending me requests for money. Never again...only to conservatives.
“”People want the president to succeed; good Lord, they want the country to succeed, and particularly the first African-American president has a lot of goodwill. . . . First: “People want the president to succeed...”
Succeed at what. Destroying this Nation? Like Hell we do.
Second: “...particularly the first African-American president...” We don’t give a damned about his skin color, just the color of his politics. His Politics are RED as in Commie. No thanks.
Third: “...we need to treat the president respectfully,...” As soon as this President treats us with some respect we’ll consider that point.
Fourth: “This is a guy people like...” Less and less.
Haley, you’re out of touch. Never thought I’d see the day I’d have to shake my head and discount your opinion on matters.
