Virginia Gov Tim Kaine asked to restore 300,000 felons' rights before McDonnell takes over

RICHMOND | Civil rights organizations are asking Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine to sign an executive order restoring the rights of nearly 300,000 felons before he leaves office in January.

Virginia and Kentucky are the only two states that permanently strip felons of their civil rights, such as voting, serving on juries or holding public office. In Virginia, the power to restore those rights lies solely with the governor.

Mr. Kaine has restored rights to more than 4,000, felons, a greater number than under any other Virginia governor. He and former Gov. Mark Warner, a fellow Democrat, restored more altogether than the previous 16 administrations. The civil rights groups are worried that they will lose ground when Republican Robert F. McDonnell takes office.

*break*

In Virginia, nonviolent felons who are crime-free for three years and have paid their dues can petition the governor to have their rights restored. Violent felons or those convicted of drug-related crimes must wait five years.

Such restorations should be on a case-by-case basis.

Very true. One hopes that there are some crimes which cause permanent recovation of voting rights.

I thought an action like this required an amendment to the state constitution or passage of a new statute by the Legislature.

He should issue a blanket pardon for anyone convicted of any sort of tax offense.

This should read “privileges”, because that’s what they are if they are granted by a government. Rights are natural and cannot justly be deprived by a government.

Why make that particular distinction? Charlie Rangel, is that you?

Rights are natural and cannot justly be deprived by a government.

What about the parts of the Constitution which states that rights may be deprived through due process of law? I would also imagine that if someone is convicted of a crime, the state does have the authority to deprive a convicted criminal of the right to life via the death penalty, or to deprive such a criminal of other personal freedoms by imprisoning them.

The Virginia Organizing Project is a leftwing group in rural Virginia that functions like a Saul Alinsky “community organizing” group.

Their goal in this case is to get more convicts registered as Democrat Party voters to take back the state from the conservatives/Republicans.

They are also linked to the old Communist Party member founded Physicians for National Health Plan of QUENTIN YOUNG.Young is the man who is largely behind the “healthcare reform” program of Hillary Clinton and now Obama.

He was in the meeting at Bill Ayers house in Chicago where OBAMA was introduced as the politico who was going to run for Alice Palmer’s Illinois State Senate seat.

Young was long ago identified as a member of the Communist Party USA, and later he moved into the Democratic Socialists of America, the newest marxist movement behind Obama.

Also in that meeting that Ayers and his terrorist wife Bernadine Dohrn hosted was another former CPUSA member/DSA member Milton Cohen (d) and Alice Palmer, whose CPUSA/Moscow connections were recently exposed in the “Obama Files” of New Zealand researcher Trevor Loudon.
Google his name for the links.

You would be shocked to see how the web of leftist interlocking subversion has been spread throughout the US by the old alliance of Saul Alinsky (including Obama), the old SDS and Weathermen, and various marxist radicals from the New American Movement, Democratic Socialists Organizing Committee, and the Illinois Voters Project.

All roads lead to Obama. After reading the “Obama Files”, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

Convicted felons — the soul of the Democrat party.

Don't forget welfare recipients, government paycheck recipients (I refuse to call them "workers"),and limp-writed,guilt-ridden,trust-funded "progressives".

As well as the countless "victims" in this vicious, heartless nation.

restore 300,000 felons' rights

What a coincidence that McDonnell beat Deeds by 344,289.

The Democrats can count on the votes of convicted felons, because both socialists and felons are in the same racket: living off the productive members of society.

This restoration of rights will include gun rights, I assume?

Now I'm sure there are a few non-violent felons, or people who have really reformed among those 300,000 felons. But I am sure there are many more active gang bangers: Crips, Bloods, MS-13, Black Gangster Discipes, Latin Kings, Hoovers, etc.

In fact there is a whole web site where Virgina law enforcement tracks these gangs: Virgina Gang Investigation Association>

I may be naive, but I don't think even the Donkey governor is corrupt enough to pardon hundreds of thosands of active gang members, thereby letting them walk into any gun shop and strap up, just to help his party win the next election.

If he does the blood will be on his hands, and the hands of the Democrat Party in Virginia.

Rights are natural and cannot justly be deprived by a government......

They may be natural and bestowed by God, but a person can certainly throw away a right to one’s Rights.

If your declaration is taken literally, then every person has a right to vote in America, regardless of what country they are a citizen. Is that what you are saying?

I’m hoping those MS-13 gang members are still locked up. Or deported.
