I can understand this. Heck, they probably make far more money selling books titled, “My Mom Billy & Daddy Fred”, “Gerbils, Mans REAL best friend”.
My memory of San Francisco is at least 40 years old. I remember interesting city hills, wonderful old houses, historic buildings, trolly cars, the smell of the wharf, an orange tree in my uncles back yard in Walnut Creek, the miles of the Bay Bridge, the incredible view of the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset, and the fog. I found it all very sexy. That all seems tainted now. I could never visit that city again. Such a shame.
The 40 year old memories I have are good, but the last visit, 4 years ago (family reunion), included witnessing a shakedown, where a poor elderly man was forced to strip to his shorts, and put to tears, so the two goons could take him for everything he might have in his pockets. This was on a one mile walk between the downtown Hilton and another highbrow hotel. What a mistake ... the walk was fraught with all too many scenes of decadence and soulless lifestyles.
