I concluded years ago that LBJ was responsible.

There was a lot of dealings in Texas for land and radio stations for which Johnson benefited as a congressman and senator. There was an investigation in congress of some of the people who he was in business with. Of course, if the AG could get the goods on him, then Johnson would have not run as VP in 64. That's all I know. I think there's some books about this.

I watched the youtube clip with one of Johnson's girldfriends about the meeting in Texas the night before the assassination. Her story is revealing about some of the power players in Texas and how they felt about the Kennedys; including some damning statements from and about LBJ.
