Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson announced today that he is going to vote with his party to move the debate forward.
*snip*
It is only to begin debate and an opportunity to make improvements. If you don't like a bill, why block your own opportunity to amend it?
As we have seen before, obstructionists are inviting a move toward reconciliation by opposing this first procedural vote. Let's be clear. That route shrinks debate and amendments, eliminates bipartisanship and needs only 50 votes to pass a bill.

Lieberman is chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmant Affairs committee. If Snowe or Collins agrees to vote for cloture, Joe will be given a pass to vote against. Otherwise Harry Reid will strip Joe of his chairmanship. So don’t count on Joe.
I prefer invoking rule .303 or .30-06 IMHO.
If these socialists pass this thing......
Don’t give up on calling, writing, emailing, and protesting Nelson. He is only saying he is voting to allow discussion of the bill (60 votes required). To my knowledge he has not yet stated how he would vote to end discussion on the Obamacare(also 60 votes required).
“Blue Dog Democrats,” like “Moderate Muslims,” exist only on the pages of books about mythology.
Snowe and Collins will probably both cave. They’re as good as dems anyway. So we are probably screwed no matter what.
If GOP had brains (or the Senators supposedly presenting GOP voters had brains) they would announce not only opposition to the bill, but also make a pledge to repeal the law when they get majority (and refuse the fund any section of it).
This would further weaken the dems willingness to vote for a legislation that will be repealed anyway.
Now the impression dems get from GOP is that once they pass it, it will stay forever (naturally gradually expanding).
and people are surprised...why?????
But it’s probably not going to cost them their seat. Come election time, they’ll say something good about our troops and the WOT, or whatever they call it these days, and the cock fighting rednecks will vote for the “Blue Dog”.
P.S. The cock fighting comment was in reference to the state of OK’s current Rat Gov. A cock fighting ban was on the ballet which brought the rednecks out of their holes in the woods of SE Ok. They voted against the ban and voted for the “Blue Dog” while they were at it.
Because, you dumb bass, they will not let you amend it in any meaningful way. They will not let non-dems amend it in ANY way.
It would be interesting to know who these Blue Dogs voted for in the 2008 President election. McCain?
We accept that these are democrats. The title is merely a Democrat and media contrivance to make it look like their side is a big tent party. No it’s not. It’s a narrowly focused Marxist/Communist/Fascist cubicle.
“Sure you can vote for us, but all you’ll get is the most radical Maoist/Leninist government money can buy.”
The Blue Dog premise is about 95% B.S.
They’re all getting a pay off for their vote. Vote yes and you get a hundred million for your state.
The beautiful part of the system is half the payoff money comes from people who disagree with the bill. Add to that, the politicians can expect to reap a tidy percentage in campaign contributions, consulting fees, etc. It’s a great scam and the taxpayers just keep going along with it. Why should politicians have any respect for the taxpayer? They already know what fools we are and they have learned to play us like a violin.
Call local in-state phone numbers too.
Goggle their name and you will see their web site.
Go to CONTACT on their web site to get the phone numbers.
You are wrong - a rare occurrence. GOP senators solidly opposing this bill on both principle and politics. We want the majority back, and every RAT now will be targeted as the deciding vote in 2010 and 2012 who voted in favor of socialized medicine - regardless of whether this ever is enacted into law.
Blanche Lincoln is now political toast.
Blue Dogs is a myth. Keep calling and faxing.
WRONG. How many times do we have to repeat factual information? NO GOP senator will vote yes tomorrow night - no political cover for any RAT.
