There is a "towel" or rather, facecloth. It is an item called the Sudarium of Olviedo. And here's the thing: the bloodstains and other markings on it match those on the Shroud.

And the Sudarium has a provenance that is well attested back to the 1st century.

Thanks. It is interesting information to be sure. I need to do some reading in the NT this afternoon, am having trouble remembering the details of the burial.

When I said towel in response to "42", it was actually a movie reference.
