8.15 PM UPDATE: The Hadley CRU director admits the emails seem to be genuine:

The director of Britain’s leading Climate Research Unit, Phil Jones, has told Investigate magazine’s TGIF Edition tonight ..."It was a hacker. We were aware of this about three or four days ago that someone had hacked into our system and taken and copied loads of data files and emails."…

TGIF asked Jones about the controversial email discussing “hiding the decline”, and Jones explained what he was trying to say….

So the 1079 emails and 72 documents seem indeed evidence of a scandal involving most of the most prominent scientists pushing the man-made warming theory - a scandal that is one of the greatest in modern science. I’ve been adding some of the most astonishing in updates below - emails suggesting conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organised resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more. If it is as it now seems, never again will “peer review” be used to shout down sceptics.

This is clearly not the work of some hacker, but of an insider who’s now blown the whistle.

As someone who works on securing a corporate network the two are not exclusive. The most dangerous form of hacking is someone on the inside who gets access to something they shouldn't. In our case its protection against insider trading, or leaking future products to competitors. But in this case some "True Believer" probably realized it was a scam and decided to do something about it. They would still be a hacker, but they hacked out not in.

Excellent news, but unfortunately it will fall on deaf ears. Our good Dr. Hansen from NASA has been caught multiple times fudging data ( i.e. lying) but nothing has come of it. If any other scientist had manipulated data they would be fired, unless of course you of the same mindset as the GW worshipers.

I think we can count on hearing a word or two about this on Fox tonight, and by the end of the weekend it will be on every channel. Of course they will start by making excuses, but just like the Rather memos, the charade will eventually end.

Last nite on Hannity, Breitbart, along with the two ACORN undercover agents were talking about the additional footage they have on ACORN and other organizations that they are threatening to expose, if Jerry Brown and his cohorts do not call off the potential charges against the ACORN exposers. It sounds like this could get very interesting!
