Giuliani Said To Be Leaning Toward Senate Race N.Y. Times report says he's decided against run for governor

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was reported by The New York Times to have ruled out a run for governor.

By MICHAEL GORMLEY Associated Press Writer

ALBANY, N.Y. - Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is leaning toward running for the U.S. Senate rather than making a bid for governor, two Republican advisers said Thursday.

"From staff, we have been hearing that he has been indicating quietly and privately recently that governor might not be the best fit for him now," one adviser said, "but the U.S. Senate could be a perfect fit for him."

The adviser noted that no one is saying Giuliani has made a decision, but that it "certainly sounds" like he is less interested in running for governor. Another adviser echoed that.

Good. I wouldn’t want a lefty like Rudy as my president, but coming out of a liberal stronghold like NY I’d be fine with a few RINO’s running around.

I’ll take Giuliani over the trash we have from New York these days. Chuck Schumer? Give me a freaking break! If Giuliani just stole that guys’s camera time, I’d be happy.

I was going to say something along the lines of what the previous posters said.

But you bring up an excellent point.

I’d support Rudy 100% to get Chuckie Scummer’s fat, condescending face off the cameras.

The most recent Marist poll has Giuliani 14 points ahead of the incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand and a Siena poll has him up by 6.

I really don't really like the idea of putting in a RINO in office, but compared to Chucky and Ghillie, I'll take anything that not pure statism in NY.

I despise RINO’s and moderates like Hatch, Grassley, Lugar etc.

But for New York I would support Rudy in spite of his liberal credentials.

Giuliani actually worked in the Reagan Administration and is more conservative in his heart than in his politics.

I would say that Rudy at least is committed to fighting the terrorists and we could certainly use one more senator who wants to do that.

he’d be better than the lefthole that has the seat now, besides he’s as conservative as you’re going to get. Someone like Rubio couldn’t win a statewide election in NY.

"Yeah, we def need one more RINO in the Senate."

Better him running for the Senate than trying for the presidency again.

over the last 30 years there have been ONLY Dem Senators in NYS. I’ll take Rudy, strong on national defense.
