During the 2008 campaign, some conservatives said they were hesitant to vote for Romney because he was perceived as being liberal on some social issues.
On Friday, he seemed determined to overcome that impression.
In his speech, given in a room filled with more than two dozen pictures of President Ronald Reagan, Romney gave a shout-out to the tea party protesters and spoke about his new book, "No Apologies: The Case for American Greatness." (It is slated to be released by St. Martin's Press in March.)
He also said the Republican Party needed to build support among young people, women and Latinos. "We need to make sure they know there are conservatives and that we are right," he said.

Just like the Dear Leader's shout-out when he quickly brushed over the Fort Hood terrorist murders. Romney is quick to pick up tricks.
Now that I’m down to a chuckle or two a minute.
So he intends to change our understanding that he is a RINO with two dozen pictures of Ronald Reagan and a tea party shout out? Well at least he called it tea “party.” But I’m sure that is as far as his understanding goes.
Does he have a time machine so he can go back and encourage at least one of his five boys to serve his country in the military? Or perhaps he could go back and reverse himself and prevent gay marriage in Massachusetts or maybe even strike down Romneycare before it became law. He might even reconsider that remark he made in the debates about wanting to allow gays in the military. He could go back and change his lies stating that the man whose picture he has plastered all around, Ronald Reagan, was a pro abortionist. Perhaps as a child he could really learn the value of the 2nd amendment and support it instead of becoming a gun grabber. Going back, it would really help if he grew up to understand that a person’s word is his bond and never develop his flip flopping ways.
But if he doesn’t have a time machine to correct all this, he can forget it. There is no way on this earth I will ever vote for Mitt Romney. I will vote third party if he is the republican nominee. Same as with that blankety blank Crist in Florida, a third party vote is the best the republicans can expect from me if Romney is their nominee.
are republicans going to run another candidate that conservatives cant vote for?
Another Pretender looking for something or someone to bolster his chances... Not this time...
That bears repeating, in fact, it ought to be shouted from the rooftops!
The MSM picked the three "frontrunners" in 2008 for the Republicans, and that was a trainwreck.
The only good thing to come out of it was Sarah Palin getting the exposure she needed to become a household name, and even now, the MSM is waging unceasing war on her.
Romney is the idiot who foisted socialized medicine in Massachusetts. Because of something so left wing as socialized medicine, he proved that he is absolutely NOT a Republican.
Unfortunately, as that debacle and its unfolding proof of high costs and bad care now come to fruit, the liberal media ignores the one state doing Obama’s plan on a limited basis - and want to force it on the rest of us.
Even at this date any one (or all) of those five boys can still enlist.
RomneyCare = 0bummerCare.
Go away, Mitt.
Mitt is like a cockroach, you can’t get rid of him and when the light is shined on him he runs under the refrigerator.
If he did that now, it would not help him. It would just seem like another disingenuous move on his part. But if they had been encouraged from birth to love and want to serve their country, we would have seen it by now.
The Romney men have an unbroken record of almost 170 years since they arrived here to serve Joseph Smith, of no man ever serving the United States in uniform.
We need more people of LIKE MIND.
Jeez, I couldn't come up with a fiction as good as the truth to illustrate how thoroughly Romney epitomizes a born-again Eddie Haskell. The best spoof and comedy writers in the business couldn't come up with something as rich as that; Romney is a PARODY of himself, for God's sake.
... Romney gave a shout-out to the tea party protesters ...
What the hell is a "shout out," and why had I never even seen the term used in a news story until about five days ago in an MSM story about Obama, and now I'm seeing it everywhere?
Seriously, I've been a Leave it to Beaver fan since I was a kid because the characters were so real and genuine in their ways. Eddie Haskell was my personal favorite because unlike Mitt Romney, underneath the phony-baloney snow-job ass-kissing smarminess was a kind of pitiful soul who had a certain vulnerability, which is why Wally stayed his friend.
It helped give one a fuller and more compassionate perspective on the real Eddie Haskells that populate every high school. They're harmless when they run for class president and win ... but Pres of the US?
And for Romney, after badmouthing Reagan for so many years, to now be surrounding himself with Reagan's images in order to snow the suckers and rubes ... well, it doesn't get any more Haskell than that.
What a wiener!
