The UC Board of Regents has decided to raise statewide fees some 32-percent, while ignoring their own fiscal waste, inner-circle intelligencia perks and favors, and continual funding of the egregious UC Labor Institute.
Suffer the students, let them eat cake.
College rates across the country are paying higher tuitions, as state budgets evaporate inside of a recession. But nowhere are the increases as dramatic as they are in California. Earlier this year the CSU System increased their fees by 32-precent as well.
If you are a college student in California, there is nowhere to hide.
In two steps over the next year, the UC System will hike up fees to a whopping $11,287; an overall 29-percent increase from the original rate beginning in 2009. And theyre not finished; a report today indicates that increases will also include fees that attach themselves to financial aid costs.

Thank goodness our daughter’s at Cal Poly (Cal State College system as opposed to UC) and finishes this coming June.
Does CA allow illegal aliens to pay in-state tuition?
Yes. But but not citizens of other states. They still have to pay out of state tuition.
Maybe they wouldn’t have to increase tuition quite so much if they made the tenured professors actually teach several classes each quarter. Nawww. That wouldn’t be politically correct.
I don’t feel sorry for the students.
Most of them are LIBERAL DEMOCRATS. When they do vote, they’re voting for what they’re getting right now.
But it’s okay - Citizens of California are just as stupid. Look at what they’re getting.
These California students must be weak sisters. In my day, we would have gone on strike and taken over the president’s office if the regents had even looked at a 2% hike. : )
Seriously, 33%!! What are they thinking? Who can pay that - even fed loan money has its limits, where are students going to get that kind of money? It’s all really too bad. I went to California once and everyone I know who lived there 30 yrs ago talks dreamily about it. But now, I just don’t know why people stay.
