Seeing the title of this thread made me read about it for the first time. I don’t know any creationists.

My question is to anyone, really. Why can’t you be devout in your religion AND believe in evolution?

“My question is to anyone, really. Why can’t you be devout in your religion AND believe in evolution?” [excerpt]
For me personally, its not about religion but rather a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

What I believe (accept on faith) is [short version] that Christ died for my sins, was raised up on the third day, and that the bible is the inspired and preserved Word of God.

The reason I don't believe in Darwinian Evolution is because a) I've never seen it empirically demonstrated, b) my salvation does not depend on it, and c) it contradicts God's Word. (disclosure: I am a YEC)

The truth is, science shouldn't be about accepting on faith, someone else's interpretation of evidence.

One of your previous comments...
“Why do you feel that it is necessary to give naturalistic explanations for the wondrous events described in the Bible? I’m curious why you search for naturalistic explanations for these events rather than accept them as signs from God?”
A good question for an Evolutionist to answer perhaps?

Anyway, if you're going to spend any time on these threads, I highly recommend the following items:
Used in conjunction, they can make for an educational and interesting read.

YMMV.

Because they’re mutually exclusive. Death and suffering is essential to evolution but the Bible teaches death and suffering in humans, plants, and animals is a symptom of man’s sin. Because of that sin we’re separated from God and require a perfect sacrifice which was provided by Christ. If death and suffering were just a natural process whereby things are made better, Christ wouldn’t have to die and our god would be a big jerk.

God created a world and called it good. He told us he did it in 6 days and that it was perfect. Man messed it up so God sent a second Adam to redeem the world. That redemption will be manifest when Christ returns again.
