It might as well have cooties. Hardly anyone wants to touch the thing, or even get close to it.
The new autobiography by moose hunter and failed vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is harder to find in the Bay Area than a hockey mom. Some bookstores figure it's one of those grit-your-teeth First Amendment deals that principled booksellers must put up with from time to time.
But many nonchain bookstores won't handle it.
"Our customers are thinking people," said Nathan Embretson, a bookseller at Pendragon Books in Oakland. "They're not into reading drivel."

I’ll see ya and raise ya. I left over 25 years ago and never had the slightest desire to return but I am currently stuck here taking care of my older parents. It is utterly unchanged from the 70’s except for being more congested and meaner. I’ve never lived in an area I disliked more.
Having been involved in the bookstore business, I can tell you that having an attitude like that will alienate many customers. This is the same liberal attitude that is more interested in calling people with whom you disagree stupid, than it is in arguing the issues about which you disagree.
If I have a choice of clicking a few keys to order the book I want, or enduring the scorn of clerks like these, guess which place will get my order.
Maybe we should overcome this and just march in there and buy or order the book and make these folks grin and bear it.
This article is just a hit piece. Saying that chains are discounting the book due to slow sales is wrong and they know it. Chain store prices are not set at the local level. All bestsellers are discounted and extremely popular books are used as loss leaders. The author of this piece needs a crash course in capitalism.
Aren't they long overdue for a genocidal earthquake?
Why waste perfectly good land and give them such a beautiful area?
I understand Alcatraz is available. Plenty of room for 'em all - standing heel to toe.
The comments following that review are fascinating!
Well, it wasn’t an earthquake, exactly...
Gen 19:24 Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrahfrom the LORD out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the citiesand also the vegetation in the land.
Here is video of some Christian youth being driven from the Castro area of SF.

Here’s an example of the books they carry for the “thinking people” they count as clientele:

Try self-satisfied or smug.
California will be hit with a massive earthquake in November....November, 2012, that is, and the earthquake will be of a political nature.
A similar quake will hit the Golden State in November, 2010.
Additional political quakes to hit 49 other states as well.
Much sorrow by liberals to follow.....
Palin's book comes with bag of nuts at Santa Cruz bookshop

against Sarah Palin's book by offering buyers a free packet of nuts. (Dan Coyro/Sentinel)
Just because some commie bookstore refuses to sell a conservative book doesn’t mean nobody in SF is buying it. Nathan is cutting off his nose to spite his face, and Amazon.com is raking it in. What a douche.
You might have better luck calling Nathan’s boss and asking him why Nathan refused to sell you a book when it’s a best-seller. Nathan might have to earn his minumum wage somewhere else.
This book truly is an inspiration to the true American spirit!
LOL, number is busy.
I’ll try again before I head back to work...
Thinking about fisting, "watersports", gerbils, yeah we get ya, Nathan.
Whadda you expect from a bunch of faggots ?
HA! You're right! Search that on their website. (Hope nobody looks at the browse history on my computer. ICK!)
