This week's decision by a government panel to discourage most women in their 40s from having routine mammograms isn't just bad medicine, but also a small taste of what ObamaCare will mean.
Yes, House and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius yesterday insisted that the new guidelines won't change what services the government will pay for. But that doesn't eliminate the impact of the finding at all -- and it does nothing about any future guidelines, based on the same approach, for less high-profile areas of medicine.
Decades of medical research have proven the value of breast-cancer screening. I order mammograms on my patients for that reason every day, referring to a top-level radiologist who helps me interpret any positive result and decide if a biopsy is indicated. It's the art of medicine.

But then I'd feel SO dirty!

DEATH PANELS rationing Health Care?
No surprise!
Sarah PALIN was right on that one! Nail it !
Yeah...and I can keep my doctor, keep my plan, and it won't cost me anything extra.
B.S.
They plan to cut 500 billion from Medicare and Medicaid. Where do you think they're going to find it? Hmmmm?????
Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare will NOT pay for any mammograms or prostate exams for anyone under 50. Period. If you're 49 and your doctor prescribes an exam, you'll be paying out of pocket. It won't be included. Abortions, fine, you can have as many of those as you want, and we'll pay for all of 'em. But preventive medicine, you're on your own.
Not to worry, there's an aspect of Obamascare that alleviates that pesky problem.
Palliative End of Life Optimum Serenity Initiative (PELOSI)
This single arrogant move could be a tipping point for the RATS’s health care reform power grab.
I would love to see Chuck-E-Cheese Schumer hold a town hall meeting on Long Island about why no woman under 50 should have a mammogram.
In fact, I (and many others) would pay admission to see that-——somebody tell Paterson I have a solution the NYS budget crisis.
Don’t feel dirty! They do things like that around here all the time! A little dose of their own medicine will be just what the doctor ordered (no pun intended)!
What I’m waiting for is a “Rostenkowski moment” to turn things around on Obamacare. I understand that was truly a “tipping point.”
Remember the feminists who used to say that politics was personal.
This is “personal” in a way that few political things are. Moving the sheik to NYC for trial is personal,,911 was deeply personal.
These two actions make tank Obama,,when his govt advisory committee of statiticians and cold blooded academics start messing with women and their breasts and everyone I know knows someone who got cancer prior to 50, they personalize an issue for women in a way that the abortion debate does.
I think this may be the jump the shark moment for Obama.
More astonishing incompetence from the ‘bama administration-starting to ration health care even before his health care bill is passed.
