Sexy?

46 year old Johnny Depp has been named The Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine for 2009. This marks the second time Mr. Depp has earned that honor, the first time was in 2003. This is rather unusal since he has mostly been under the radar in 2009, while other candidates such as Ryan Reynolds (The Proposal) and Robert Pattinson (Twilight) have made big waves.
Johnny Depp however has stood the test of time. He's been a major, if not minor heart-throb since 1987 when he first appeared in 21 Jump Street. He reached true stardom with his silent portrayal of Edward Scissorhands, and reached super-mega stardom as Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney's Pirates of the Carribean series.
Although Depp was born here in the good ol' U.S.A., he now lives in France with long-time partner Vanessa Paradis and their two children. The reason? Johnny Depp told the New York Post a few years ago: "I'm truly frightened of America in terms of raising my daughter here. I don't believe that is an option at all."

He’s truly “frightened by America” but doesn’t mind taking millions of dollars from us.
I remember the quote but when he returned stateside, he manned up about the quote and was sincere in saying on camera that he apologized for it. Probably the last time I watched Entertainment Tonight. I saw Public Enemies and he was average in it, unlike the Pirates trilogy. If you want anti-American, his co-star Marion Cotillard has the most idiotic statements about 9/11.
His portrayal of Jack Sparrow is spectacular. Sexy though?
I don’t find him attractive as he ages. But in his youth he was damn good looking.

IIRC, fleeing the toxic L.A. paparazzi culture (brawling, hotel room smashing Depp was a popular target of the tabloids at the time) to live a simpler life with his French girlfriend had more to do with his exile than any political statement.
I’ll take Tom Selleck over Depp any time.
He calls America dumb.
I guess he told us. I mean, really, if someone as smart as a HOLLYWOOD ACTOR thinks we’re all dumb, then, wow, I guess we really are.
He lacks the Testosterone to be the sexiest man alive! How bout Benjamin Netanyahu or Glenn Beck? Real men who wouldn’t leave their country crying, but man up & work on restoring it. Also up for consideration: Door- kickers of the USMC!

He kind of creeps me out because he is so effeminate - - and I am female and have been so for 65 years.
I would have thought at least a *little* testosterone would be a prerequisite to male “sexiness”.
wow, if that’s what she used to look like ... the only picture I remember seeing of the two together, she looked pale with gaudy make-up and I couldn’t understand why he would chose such a scary looking woman.
