AARP, which has given its full-throated support to Democratic health care legislation even though seniors remain largely opposed, received an $18 million grant in the economic stimulus package for a job training program that has not created any jobs, according to the Obama administration's Recovery.gov website.
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), according to the website, is "a work training program for unemployed mature workers who are 55+ and are at or below 125% of the poverty guidelines." So far, $6.5 million has been spent on the program, and it has not reported creating any jobs.
In February, the Politico reported that AARP was putting pressure on Republican members of Congress to support the stimulus package.
Since then, AARP has moved on to lobbying for passage of health care legislation, even though Democratic proposals have called for several hundred billion dollars in cuts to Medicare, a program that the group typically defends tooth and nail when Republicans propose cutting it. A recent Pew survey found that just 31 percent of those over 65 supported health care legislation being touted by AARP.
As it turns out, AARP is also in a position to benefit financially if the health care legislation passes, because seniors losing benefits as a result of cuts to Medicare Advantage will be forced to buy Medigap policies, which is the main source of AARP revenue.
Barry Rand, the chief executive of AARP, was a big donor to the Obama campaign and has retained a cozy relationship with the administration.
The stimulus grant to AARP was reported by WatchDog.org, a site run by the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity, which also found that stimulus funds were funneled into another liberal interest group, the National Council of La Raza.

This is how it works.
These organizations are cover created as a way of getting people paid. What the people actually do for the money may or may not have anything to do with what their title is on the org chart.
AARP does its job, and O makes sure they are funded. Same with ACORN. Same with others. They may develop private sources of funding, like ACORN getting paid by the very banks they were shaking down. Or the unions who get paid by their own captive membership. But there is usually ample federal money to be had too and right now with the “stimulus slush fund” there is plenty more than normal. But then again, the stakes are higher now than they’ve ever been and the prize so close they can see it.
The AARP is to seniors what Jane Fonda was to the Vietnam war effort - a traitor.
Now we know why the AARP supported Obama’s government takeover of heathcare in spite of what their members wanted.

This is our tax money at work seems unethical, but also seems illegal. They will be helping promote the amnesty bill. Basically our money used against us. We were told this money was a jobs bill, I assumed for citizens.

This seems to be the model. You’ll remember the whole Anenburg Trust business, where, what, a hundred fifty million was distributed to various groups, many of them friends of Ayers, some of them controlled by Ayers, and supposedly some of the groups receiving funds turned around and used part of that money in turn funding Ayers’ groups.
Something similar seems to happen with the Tides Foundation.
A lot of these groups seem to me to be artificial, set up for the purpose of getting people paid. The actual service they perform may not be obvious from what it is that they claim to be doing for the sake of funding. ACORN? Seems like another fake organization, same with SEIU. They do real things, to justify some of the funding, but their real purpose I believe is unstated publicly (though you can gather what it is if you watch what they do rather than what they say they do).
O’s government seems to be made up of these shadowy fake organizations. Some people are on the radar, some below the radar. People like Jones or whatsername who were visible fold themselves back into the below-the-radar group, they’ve shifted from one payroll to another, but life goes on. Somewhere someone has the real org chart, but it probably bears only casual and incidental resemblance to the public one.
At least, thats what I’m starting to think. I wonder where O is on the “real” org chart.
This has to be the biggest corruption scheme of all time. Is there no investigative journalist(s) willing to blow the lid off this POS?
Obviously not! But it's being done by the conservative bloggers.
The place to apply pressure is your Senators and House members. I think we need to use harsh clear descriptive words to describe the depth of corruption in Obama's administration - but no shouting no swearing. I know that's hard - but you can do it.
And a threat to fund the first challanger they have for office unless they bring Obama to heel should be the final point before a polite goodby.
