My home state is 25, which means that New York is mediocre in something (we are either the best or the worst on most of these lists).
MS has the largest black population % wise, a demographic not exactly known for eating healthy. When traveling the majority white Gulf region back in 2002, however, I saw lots of folks eating HUGE portions of fried fish, followed by dessert. We are what we eat.
As for myself, I yo-yo back and forth weight wise, but have spent the past few years between 170-190 (5'11"). Love to eat, but know my limits. It also helps that walking is a necessity around these parts.
I’d like to see the correlation between % black population and the state’s place on the list.
I believe at least 40-50% percent of southern black females are today morbidly obese.
I don’t think whites in Mississippi are as fat as lower class whites in Tennessee are.
Folks living at higher altitude have an advantage on this.
When I lived in Bogota ...for 7 months once only going lower to go to Muzo or Villvicencio, I lost tons of weight from higher metabolic rate to compensate for lack of O2....around 180..and I’m 6/5...now...230 on a diet..lol
I bet Leadville has few fatties.
