Why Europe Feels Rejected by Obama By JOHN VINOCUR
Why would an American president not come to a celebration marking the fall of the Berlin Wall, and with it, the triumphant end of the Cold War one of the high points of the United States and Europes common 20th-century history?
Whatever the exact answer and it could be that a fatigued Barack Obama didnt want the physical strain of a trans-Atlantic trip days before a weeklong tour of Asia his absence from the Nov. 9 ceremonies in Germany has reinforced Europes fear that it has become an increasingly insignificant part of the presidents worldview.
This week offers a telling juxtaposition:
Mr. Obama, after giving Berlin a conspicuous miss, is concentrating by his presence Americas attention and future hopes on China and Asia. Virtually at the same moment, the European Union, in whats plainly an effort to assert its relevance, will choose (with considerable difficulty and potential irrelevance) a common president and foreign minister for the first time.
Together, thats hardly a guarantee of a warmer trans-Atlantic clasp of hands. Instead, its a remarkable contrast to Secretary of State James Bakers proposal, a month after the wall fell, of a new, organic economic and political relationship between Europeans and Americans.
Now, Denis MacShane, a former British minister for Europe, who met with other Atlanticists at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Edinburgh over the weekend, describes the circumstances this way: Theres a growing worry everywhere in Europe that we have the first U.S. president since 1945 to show no interest in whats happening on this side of the relationship.

I am sure that I am not the only one to see this:
TOTUS is ignoring Europe for the same reason he and the Wookie were so rude to Queen Elizbeth and why he insulted Gordon Brown; he is firmly rejecting the values of the West. Bowing to the Saudi king and to the Japanese emperor tells the world that it is their warped worldview that he values.
He heard that its full of typical white people.
Obama is just expanding his dislike from European white dead men (the nation’s founders) to the current European white people (especially if they are considered America’s allies - why should it only happen to Israel?).
If the Europeans want some love from Obama, they need to let him raise their taxes.
ROTFLMAO!
There is saying that the Euros ought to know: you make your bed, you sleep in it. The Euros did everything they could to trash Bush (their friend) and basically kiss Obama’s feet.
Well now you got Obama - don’t come crying to us when we told you so.

Why Europe Feels Rejected by Obama - Because they are white.
LOL! Quite true.
Truthfully, he is totally divorced from the West. As someone up thread said, his first priority is the destruction of the United States. He will get on with destroying Europe when he’s done with us...unless their imported Muslim workers and layabouts get it done first.
This is a man who sees himself as an avenging angel for the Third World. Myself, I say vote GOP in 2010, support Palin, and stock up on canned goods and ammo.
I live in Europe and I don´t know of anyone who cares - it must be just the NYT that needs something to write about.
In eight full years of Bush the NYTs never gave Bush, any Conservative or Republican this kind of slobbering sweet treatment.
This is an opinion piece, not a news story. Still, considering the source it's pretty strong for the NYT.
Obama Bows To Europe - NOT!
Obama Bows To Arabia
Obama Bows To Asia
I never have heard so many comments about BO being tired. Reporters always saying how tired he must be. Give me a break, he’s only 48 years old. There were never any comments about Bush being tired that I remember.
Better put some ice on that lip Europe.
