Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who spoke to The Hill Monday evening, denied Sarah Palin's allegation that his campaign stuck her with a $50,000 legal bill to pay for the cost of vetting her as a potential vice presidential candidate.
McCain said the bill was for legal work related to allegations that Palin made improper use of her influence as Alaska's governor to press for the dismissal of a state trooper named Mike Wooten. Wooten was embroiled in a custody dispute with Palin's younger sister, Molly McCann.
"That was addressed by Trevor Potter," said McCain, "That was over the troopergate."
In a statement to the Associated Press, Potter, McCain's general counsel, denied that McCain's campaign billed Palin for vetting her....

This is starting to get interesting.
Hey McCain.
‘Troopergate’ was Clinton’s sexual abuse of female state troopers.
Don’t try shifting the name onto the firing of this violent tazer-happy drunk.
Time for John McCain to fade into history. He served his country well but he is a loser in politics and dishrag republican. See ya.
McCain is a jerk.
Time for John McCain to fade into history.

There is likely a good reason for his first divorce. What slime!
Can someone shut up this has been moron. He’s a piece of RINO garbage. He’s like a bad meal that keeps coming up! You ran a lousy campaign, you’re a liberal, and you and your fatty daughter need to shut up and get lost! McLame! Will this POS never leave alone!
And I can believe McCain's idiots would have tried to stick her with the bill...
campaign should’ve paid it.
Palin had her own legal council for that issue, plus the state provided legal council to governor. Why was the campaign spending money on lawyers for it and then forcing Palin to then pay the bill herself?
I won't question your source but
said McCain, “That was over the troopergate.”
I am disappointed he used the term “troopergate”, if McCain truly did. Makes it sound like a conspiracy.
Never mind that Obama spends a million or more in campaign funds on legal bills for what? Hiding ineligibility or sustaining a distracting conspiracy depending on the reality behind what he is hiding.
Um, Sen. McBipartisan—Exactly why would your miserably failed presidential campaign pay a sitting governor’s legal bills? Doesn’t pass the common sense test. As Alaska’s governor the state was responsible for defending her from the trumped up charges.
Making her pay for you to vet her, on the other hand, seems to me to be consistent with your complete lack of candor, honesty and morality in your political life.
Well actually it started with Clinton using troopers to procure wonmen for him. The troopers talked and Paula Jones' name got out. She sued, the troopers were smeared in the press, Clinton perjured himself, and we're supposed to forget everything except Monica. The MSM now refers to every controversy involving state troopers as troopergate to help with Clinton's legacy. Ask anyone--impeachment was all about sex--that Lewinski woman.
Cat fight with an old, toothless tom.
What a mean, underhanded, viscous, bitter, ungrateful piece of crap. He should go over the dark side and STAY THERE.
I look forward to Palin defending her assertions.
