Obama's polls
The American Thinker ^ | November 17, 2009 | Steve McCann

The political and media world today seems to revolve around polls. A day does not by that we are treated to a poll result of some sort on subjects both timely and inane. This now substitutes, within the mainstream media, for news and real reporting.

Notwithstanding the fact that polling can be manipulated (and has shown to be numerous times), the use of these surveys has become a religion within the halls of Congress and the White House, and a justification to pursue agenda items.

As a result many point to the still-high job approval rating of President Obama as demonstrating:

This simply summarizes views posted on this forum over the past year.

1.The president was voted into office by a large block of Americans jumping on the bandwagon of electing the first Black president.

2. Racism hasn't gone away and is used almost daily to intimidate those opposed to the administration.

3. Polling is dubious also due to the intimidation factor. The true feelings of Americans for this Administration aren't being revealed.

Seems to me we've been right on target...

The real polls are in the overwhelming majority of people who are selecting Republicans over Democrats-especially among independents. Just about every one of these polls that I have seen so far the Republicans are leading by 10-20 points. What conservatives need to do is make sure we get the RIGHT Republicans in.

Therefore, when a pollster calls and talks to a potential respondent, how much of that person's answer to whether they approve of the job the President is doing is colored by their desire to not be seen as a racist or having a prejudiced view of Barack Obama since he is black? The inquiry as to his overall rating can be construed to be a reflection of the man.

That's exactly what's happening with the poll numbers.

It happened in VA and NJ, also, when exit pollers asked people who presumably voted against the Dem gubernatorial candidate about Obama. They "liked" him, because to say otherwise is non-PC.

All this will, in the long run, come back to bite him, if we survive.

And it's true!!! It's like dismissing the effectiveness of a Spartan swordsman because he wields a shield!

Blackness is a shield, the Dems use it effectively, and we're not sure how to counter it.

Exactly! If “party leaders” are allowed to select the candidates, as they did in NY 23, the 2010 elections will be a waste of time.

This is really about the so-called Bradley effect. It is interesting to talk about but, as I recall, it was pretty much disproven in the 2008 presidential election.

Some of Zer0’s behavior is enough to make me seriously consider the possibility of re-incarnation!

Not only “Il Douche” poses but fascistic policies as well.

Like everything else, it starts to get old after a while.

The “race card” has been on borrowed time for quite a while now. The first inkling I had was in the “Barber Shop” movie when the Cedric character blurted out “bleep Jesse Jackson.”

It came back into fashion for a while under Obama but it is starting to lose its bite. Obama jokes on the comedy shows are a leading indicator of that.

I think almost half of Americans have no clue as to what is going on in America.
They watch the MSM fawning over Obama 24/7 and want to be part of that in crowd. When not watching the MSM, they are watching some pap like American Idol, or Sunday football.
In FReeper think, Obozo should be at 25% max.
We know that he will always have 95 percent of the blacks.
He will also have 100 percent of the growing Marxist/Communist group.
The rest of the brain dead are watching PMSNBC and CNN.
They will go with whatever the “feeling” is with idiots like
Mathews and Olbernut.
I hate to think where you would be without FOX.
I say “you” because, other then Social Security, I have no
worries about MY future, living off shore.

This is really about the so-called Bradley effect. It is interesting to talk about but, as I recall, it was pretty much disproven in the 2008 presidential election.

Because he was largely an unknown, masquerading as a moderate. Things have changed, most definitely, but there's still the residual effect of the outing of "Joe the Plumber" and the fear of being quoted as anti-Obama in a local news source. Ordinary folks fulfilling their civic duty at the polls don't need that hassle. They have jobs and families to protect.

In the case of the telephone polls, you may be right. Most people I know don't answer anonymous calls flagged by Caller ID, so there's probably an element of the least informed and most susceptible to major media cheerleading in that data set.

Living off shore, I’ll simply state you’re somewhat detached from the mood here in middle-America. People aren’t as complacent and tuned out as you depict. There’s a very big ‘regret’ that has developed, and it’s caused people to pay attention as they never have before.

What you describe was certainly true up through the election. But things have shifted. Whether it’s enough, or has come too late remains to be seen. But it’s happened and continues to build.

So far as I know, this not possible in a regularly scheduled election.

“Living off shore, I’ll simply state you’re somewhat detached from the mood here in middle-America.”

Well, I am in touch every day via Rush and FR.
I start my morning by listening to Savage by internet radio, then Rush via Rush 24/7.
I am, of course, connected to FR, 24 hours per day, and catch my msgs. starting at 7 AM my time.
Yes, the Tea Party crowd has been great, and not being with them is my only regret for not being in the USA.
I would have loved to have been to some of them, especially DC.

Still I read Rasmussen and see that 45 to 50 percent still think Obozo is OK.
While FOX is doing a good job and outranks all the others put together, there are still a big swath of idiots glued to SeeBS, NBC, ABC, where all they hear is how great the new lord god Obammie is doing for them.
