An aide to committee chairman Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., told Fox News that the meeting is delayed "at the request of the administration." Army Secretary John McHugh and Army Chief of Staff Gen George Casey were to have briefed committee members privately on the shooting.
Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was charged on Thursday with the deadly shooting spree. Army investigators have said Hasan is the only suspect and could face additional charges.
Obama already had ordered a review of all intelligence related to Hasan and whether the information was properly shared and acted upon within government agencies. Several members of Congress, particularly Rep. Peter Hoekstra, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, have also called for a full examination of what agencies knew about Hasan's contacts with a radical Muslim cleric in Yemen and others of concern to the U.S.
Hoekstra confirmed this week that government officials knew of about 10 to 20 e-mails between Hasan and Anwar al-Aulaqi, beginning in December 2008.

The hearings for the Armed Services commmittee have been postponed, but Lieberman’s committee is going full speed ahead. The difference between Levine and Lieberman where it comes to our military.
I don’t much like Lieberman at all, but on THIS one, he is right. Below is from the article:

Susan Collins, the ranking Republican on the committee, said in a joint statement over the weekend. “Our goal, and the purpose of this inquiry, is to make as certain as possible that no such attack ever occurs again on an American military base. We will focus on national and homeland security and will not compromise the criminal case being conducted by law enforcement.’”
To which I say, Mr. Gates, you have shown yourself to be less than valuable to our Troops, and of IMMENSE value to the traitor in chief. Therefore, I don’t trust a damn thing you have to say, so how dare you tell anyone to “just shut up?”

Well said. This is a cover -up from the top down. That’s why Obama wants to micromanage the whole thing. They knew exactly who Hasan was before this ‘sudden jihad syndrome’ in Fort Hood even occured. I believe the left had been using him for years to help undermine the war effort through his phony ‘military suicides’,’torture’ and ‘war crimes’ reports and ‘unnamed source’ material. He was scheduled to co-chair an event at The Center For American Progress for cryin out loud. I’d like to see at least one reporter ask about that!!

The purpose behind delaying hearings is that by the time they are allowed to have them, the general public, The Oprah Nation, won't be nearly so interested in them.
The name that links the two is Col. Elspeth Ritchie, M.D. They co-chaired an event at the AMA and she was a featured speaker at The American Center For Progress (which was postponed according to the website). This was during the time when the left was using a ‘report’ on suicides in the military to drum up anti-war sentiments. I was slightly mistaken though in that they co-chaired an event at the CFAP.It was an event at the AMA and she later went on to give lectures at the The Center For American Progress. See this thread:

Murdering islamic terrorist hasan was photographed in a muslim costume earlier the same day. What is military policy on off duty conduct/dress/associations for active duty troops? He was off duty part of the day?
And, as you say, he was dead, then not dead, then in a coma, then conscious and on a ventilator. We only know now if his lawyer tells something to the media, and who believes that?
