WASHINGTON (CNN) Fewer than three in 10 Americans think Sarah Palin's qualified to be president, according to a new national poll - the least of any of the five potential candidates included in the survey.
But another woman tops that list in the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Monday: two-thirds of the public thinks that Secretary of State HIllary Clinton's qualified for the Oval Office. That's more than Vice President Joe Biden, who's currently next in line for the presidency.
According to the poll, 28 percent of Americans say Palin is qualified to run the White House, with seven in 10 saying the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee is not qualified.
The survey indicates that a majority of Republicans, 54 percent, feel Palin is qualified, with 44 percent indicating she isn't. But only 29 percent of independent voters questioned feel she is qualified to serve as president, with 68 percent disagreeing. According to the poll, nine in 10 Democrats feel Palin is not qualified.
The poll's release comes one day before the release of Palin's book, "Going Rogue: An American Life."

where was CNN on the 0bambi qualification question last year? oh yea, they defended him.
i’ll take any NATURAL BORN AMERICAN CITIZEN with the best interests of the country over the libtard we have now, any day of the week
We now see the leftists getting an early start to build their propaganda machine through 2010 into 2012, so the story line and template is set.
The first question to ask any one of these un-American masters of smart front groups is; How is she not qualified? Then use the answer and compare it to that of oh, lets say Obama. What shes not black enough, is of verifiable American heritage, a woman, in support of life, liberty and does not promote the destruction of America you say well if that is your approach then she is qualified.
LOL! You go believe that, if it makes you feel better. But most folks think that quitting when the going gets rough, is not a qualification for president.
If cnn is pushing romney and huckabee it’s because they rightly believe either of those two would guarantee a second term for the marxist messiah.
cnn isn’t a news organization, it’s nothing more than a wing of acorn.
And how many of these morons voted for the “Community Organizer” for president?
Every exit poll from last November that I've seen demonstrated clearly that the American people didn't think she was qualified, even for the VP slot.
As long as the American people still elect Presidents, which given the current administration isn't without doubt, the perception by those same people that Palin poses questionable bona fides, will be problematic should she launch another national campaign. To ignore or deny that fundamental truth is whistling past the graveyard.
Simply put, it not a question of "is she or isn't she qualified", it's a question of "what do the American people think about her qualifications?" Thus far, it's not positive.
WHICH 'COMMUNITY ORGANIZER' IS MORE QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT?
From the same people who chose McCain for us last time.
Now you’ve done it. You’ve dissed St. Sarah.
The wrath of FReepers will fall upon you.
No offense, but most American voters thought the incumbent was up to the job.
“Who sets the qualifications?”
Ouch, clarity; something that is not familiar with the political class. And you can bet that if she is elected; every freak, single identity members and un-American groups will be allied with enemies foreign and domestic to assist in another 9/11 type operation to unseat her.
Palin has run SOMETHING (ANYTHING) unlike the MORON in the White House now! He couldn't run a lemonade stand much less the government!
The more these so-called news organizations keep repeating that Sarah is not qualified the more it reminds of what a complete jack*ss without a clue we have now!
The state run media is already trying to pick our candidates for us. Sarah Palin will do just fine thank you.
Yeah, we’ve already proven you don’t have to be qualified to be President of the United States. What’s the argument about?
Kiss of death.
“It’s hard to believe CNN would push two Republicans who have zero chance to win...”
You left off the sarc switch /s
Where did you get the "most folks" nonsense from? Have you seen any polls? Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Republican voters say former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin shares the values of most GOP voters throughout the nation. By contrast, 74% of Republicans say their partys representatives in Congress have lost touch with GOP voters nationwide over the past several years. Only 18% of Republican voters believe their elected officials have done a good job representing the base.
As far as "quitting" is concerned, why should she stay in a position that is personally bankrupting her? She doesn't come from a wealthy family nor does her husband. They have five children including one who is disabled and one who is an unwed teenage mother. It takes judgment as to when to hold them and when to fold them. I would say that she now has the winning hand. Her book sales will go through the roof making her a wealthy woman and someone who has many more choices in life, whether she runs for President or not.
But Obama is?
