CHICAGO A disturbing video released exclusively to Fox News by the animal rights group Mercy for Animals (MFA) shows a string of alleged abuses at one of the nation's largest pig farms, including footage of employees picking up baby pigs and tossing them like footballs.
("In other news, 1.2 million abortions occured in 2008. And now a word from our sponser, Mr. Clean.")

I get it , you thought it was a Muslim goat roping event. Hunting those virgins.
Breaking News?
On Free Republic?
Really?
Did I wander onto a Greenpeace/PETA forum?
Last week I abused some ham, some sausage, and some bacon.
And I bought 2 rolls of sausage to abuse this week.
With eggs (over easy), home fries, and biscuits if I’m lucky.
I agree with the poster who said this is just drumming up donations for that wacko organization.
Pregnant sows are put in farrowing cages the day before they deliver the pigs. The sows are very big animals and if they are not in the cages, they will step on the babies or lay on them, crippling or killing them. The cages allow the sow to stand up, lay down, give birth, and to suckle the babies. Several days after the birth, the babies are taken from the sows and taken to a nursery. If the attendants got in where the sows could get to them they would knock them down and bite them in an attempt to eat them. After the babies are transferred, the sow is then let out of the cage and is herded to the nursery and put in a pen with her piglets. The name of the game there is profit and it is definitely not the intent of the owners or managers to injure or kill any animal as that eats into their profits, thus, the animals are sheltered, fed well, and cared for with good practices in the industry. The photographer needs to work in the farrowing unit for a year or so and learn the trade.
Poor little future hot dogs...
In the video, it’s obvious that the pigs have a clearer understanding of what’s happening than some FReepers. Only a true sociopath inflicts torture for their own pleasure. I don’t know what’s wrong with someone who could watch this and think it’s funny.
Agreed. There’s nothing wrong in respecting what sustains you.
Hey, “ace,” can anyone actually say that slaughtering an animal isn’t “harming” it? If we slaughter a human, is it “harmed” or “helped?”
Since what is considered “animal abuse” is completely relative, I must logically ignore all attempts at justifying “animal rights.”
You do, too, if you believe people should be allowed to eat meat or pin up pets in homes. Those are undoubtedly abusive if they are not allowed to stay living or to roam as they see fit.
Get real.
Peta can’t see the difference either.
This video was NOT cruel!!!!!!!! They did NOT throw the piglets around the room—they were gently tossing them from one worker to another who promptly put them in a moving cart to move them from one farrowing crate to another. Good grief, people, I’m a vet tech, Christian, and someone who would not abuse another animal. It is evident that the operation videoed has THOUSANDS of pigs. When you have to move pigs from one place to another, and there are that many of them, you can’t put a leash on them and walk them from place to place! (Besides, they are not the most cooperative animals on the planet!)
The wounds filmed, for the most part, had been inflicted by other pigs! They also had wound dressing on them (hint: It’s the black stuff on them.)
And just for the record, pigs are omnivorous, eating both meat and plants. They will BITE you severely, and in some cases in Ohio have EATEN their owners when given the opportunity!
Right. I’m a full supporter of hunting, and killing animals for food. But torturing for the heck of it. That’s just sick!
We raised a few pigs on our farm when I was a kid. We never slammed them against a wall for fun. (6:25 into the video).
I don’t see a single problem in the whole video.
I can’t understand what’s wrong with someone who finds “abuse” in that video. You ought to see what pigs do to each other, which I would contend is 95%+ of all of the wounds shown in that video.
The rest come from normal handling. Go vegetarian if you so desire and don’t do this to your own animals.
But I will fight you and others to allow farmers the right to handle their property as they see fit.
Sick!
They are his pigs and his property.
Agreed, BUT I despise cruelty nonetheless.
I do completely agree with your position. One can be against something without requiring laws to outlaw once legal behavior by each of our Founding Fathers and their fathers, too.
AMEN and AMEN
