As best as I can tell, Sarah Palin shares my views too.

So do my mechanic, a couple of my next door neighbors, and the lady who does my wife's hair.

That does not mean I see them all as potential Presidents.

The emotionalism of the connections between some Freepers and Mrs. Palin is a little unnerving....this sort of idolatry of a politician (who are at best, our mildly incompetent hired help) is far more suited to leftists, who view the political arena as mankind's highest achievement.

It is more than emotionalism. Many see a successful elected politician who is interested in more than cocktail parties and corporate junkets. She has rooted out corruption and corrupt politicians, including some in our party. In addition, she was attacked brutally by the media and some in our own party, which has strengthened ties with conservatives.

I am not sure why someone with a strong track record building a strong following is so scary. I wonder if you would have said the same thing in the 70s about Reagan...oooohhh how terrible it is that these people believe strongly in one man. I would imagine most believe Palin is in a rare position to articulate conservatism, and I am all for that, regardless of what offices she may or may not pursue in the future.

this sort of idolatry of a politician

You bought the lie and that tactic doesn't work here! Your "emotions" are ruling you, not clear thinking. Now it's time for you to get your car fixed, chat w/a few neighbors while you wife gets her hair done. Flip a coin come 2012 - it's 'your' best bet.

“As best as I can tell, Sarah Palin shares my views too.
So do my mechanic, a couple of my next door neighbors, and the lady who does my wife’s hair.
That does not mean I see them all as potential Presidents.”

But they ARE potential VOTERS, aren’t they? You wouldn’t be expecting them to actually RUN for anything, now would you?

Take into consideration that at least half of Independents are former GOP conservatives who balked at always having to hold their noses and vote for the lesser of two evils, opting instead to vote their values, of which mcshame had hardly any. They stayed home in droves.
During the last election, my heart was breaking for what I saw as two peas from the same pod stiffing us without any degree of shame or conscience. Then along came Sarah and lit up the sky like a burst of sunshine.
NOT what mcshame expected. Not what he planned for when he deliberately chose her because he thought he had a sure loser, an unknown, untried, lady with no national name recognition.
He got his head handed to him and the scare of his life when she made it seem possible he could actually win. So what did they do? He allowed his own campaign to trash her. They smothered her. They slimed her. They are sliming her still.
How much do you respect mccain? Me, NONE.
And what did SHE do?
Well, Sarah is still standing. Sarah is stronger now than she was then. Sarah is outdistancing every other wannabe runner on the scene. I voted for her once already, and I will proudly do so again.
And so will the Independents the GOP drove out.

I’m a big fan of Mrs Palin, and would be delighted to see her win the Presidency. However, your caution about emotions and personalities bears repeating.

People will always let you down. Only principles endure.

Perhaps you'd much rather have a terrorist loving communist, who votes “present a 100 times, has ZERO executive experience, and doesn't share any views with you sitting in the White House, yes?.

"The emotionalism of the connections between some Freepers and Mrs. Palin is a little unnerving...."

Naaaaah. It's the reflex anti-Palin basing, and the mindless repeating of DUMMY/State Run Media talking points on this borad by agenda driven posters, that is truly disturbing.

"this sort of idolatry of a politician (who are at best, our mildly incompetent hired help)"

There is no idolatory. This country is fighting for it's very survival and fighting for it's very soul. This is no time for half measures. We need the candidate in 2012 who has the will, and the strength of character, determnation and will power to sweep away 0bozo's nation detsroying policies if she should win.

" is far more suited to leftists, who view the political arena as mankind's highest achievement."

We don't.
