The parks, paths, trails, etc. on public land belong to the public, not SEIU. They have no rights to them or to any jobs connected to them - or to anything else. Should the city see fit to hire someone into a union shop, then the union can negotiate their salary, benefits, etc. But they have no right to the work in the first place. God bless the town that can find civic-minded volunteers to contribute to their community and help save everyone money.
SEIU apparently didn’t get Obama’s message on service.
That kid just took away a years work for dozens of SEIU members.
Let’s call it as it is...just another selfish union SOB.
Some people are clueless about public relations.
“We are probably going to let this one go,” Balzano said, as two brain synapses unexpectedly fired simultaneously in the union leader’s head causing a massive migraine. Such an event is rare and may cause the rank-and-file to revolt.
And we will be looking right back at you, you son of a bitch. Believe it.
Hey Balzano, how about you and the rest of SEIU start filling graves?
The union in Contra Costa County CA put a stop to some parents volunteering at their children’s school on the same argument.
> “We’ll be looking into the Cub Scout or Boy Scout who did the trails,” Balzano told the council.
This retired Boy Scout does not respond well to threats. Few do.
Their arrogance is almost beyond words. Can you imagine what would have happened if this was an issue when Jared did his Eagle Scout project? The community we were in would have fought the union tooth & nail.
I doubt that SEIU members would ever pick up a shovel or a hoe for the amount this soon to be eagle scout was willing to....

Have your boss tell that to "Mr Volunteer" 0bamy the next time he visits the White House.
SEIU says No one except union members may pick up a hoe
THAT should be on posters all over town.
The union for illegal aliens has decided to PERMIT a US boy scout to work for free -but JUST THIS ONCE....!
Now that is rich..!
True. As most FReepers know, an Eagle Scout project is something far beyond a few hours "community service". It's a whole program designed to teach young men how to organize, plan and execute a major community project. Everything is logged, teaching them organization and good business practices as part of the goal behind the project.
As a former Scout and also a former Scoutmaster for 15 years, I'm grateful for the support of so many good folks who stood by us, there is no shortage of criticism and attacks on the BSA but we used to tell the boys that that sort of thing "just builds character". One of them said, "Then Boy Scouts will have enough character for the whole country".
They stayed with us all the way through HS, pretty gutsy in today's PC world. Since the WOT, six of our Eagle Scouts have served in combat in Iraq, three are still serving, does this tell you something about character? They didn't bat an eye when they joined up either. This is what America is all about. Don't forget them, nor what the Boy Scouts of America stands for.
The SEIU is going to give gov’t a bad name for a vast majority of Americans.

Where can we get an army of these Scouts?
