Carrie Prejean has canceled public appearances designed to promote her new book after two major developments in the conservative starlets public image.
First, it was reported that a controversial video tape of Prejean had surfaced during settlement negotiations with her former Miss America pageant bosses. Prejean was 17 when she made the tape, which she said was meant for her boyfriends eyes only.
TMZ, the media outlet that had obtained the tape, said they did not publish it on their website because it was so racy. Because of it, they claimed, Prejean received nothing from her back-and-forth lawsuits with Miss America and was riddled with paying her own lawyers bills.
More recently, Prejean threatened to walk off the set of Larry Kings nightly news show when King asked her repeated questions about her confidential settlement with Miss America Pageant officials, and then patched in a call to her from a listener. Prejean called the questioning inappropriate, took her mike off, and after about a minute of on-air silence, King broke for a commercial.
Critics immediately used the developments as reasons why Prejean was unqualified to speak about her opinions on gay marriage.
Prejean -- Family Doesn't Always Come First, read a TMZ headline. Since then, Prejean cancelled her keynote speech at the New Jersey Family Policy Councils Defenders of the Family fundraiser, an appearance at an invitation-only event at the National Republican Club of Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and numerous other radio segments.

Carrie Prejean is entitled to her opinion about gay marriage. I did see clips of her on entertainment shows and of course those clips were less than flattering and made her look stupid. It is obvious the “gay mafia” is gloating.
I can’t help but feel she brought a lot of this on herself ,, If your makin’ porn flix with several boy friends you might not want to get in the Miss America pagent . Try a hustler or playboy pagent . I do agree with her honest statement about homomarriage .
Ad hominem tu quoque. Even though mental midgets love this tactic, it is still a fallacy.
This is a Gay Mafia hit job and so I have much sympathy for her.
Thousands of girls her age are making some really bad mistakes by exposing themselves on video.
Many will later regret what they are doing now.
First of all, who is not "qualified" to speak about their own opinions on anything?
Second of all, this poor girl - she did not set out to try to be a role model of purity. All she did was answer a question honestly at a beauty pageant. Her answer was politically incorrect & set off a firestorm.
Conservatives have tried to put her up on some kind of pedestal & liberals have tried to dig up every piece of dirt they could find in her past to tear her apart.
I feel sorry for her, she is caught up in a storm & getting it from all sides. I still say that the real issue here is not how "pure" Ms. Prejean is, or is not - it's the issue of free speech. This other stuff is ridiculous.
Her fifteen minutes were up long ago.
I don’t feel sorry for her at this point. She knew those pics and tapes were out there.
But hey...she brought it on herself.
Carrie said publically that she believed marriage was between a man and a woman. That is it, all she said.
I don’t believe she stated she was pure as snow at the pageant. I wonder how many people on that stage were pure as driven snow?
The tapes she made were stupid, but have nothing to do with her opinion on gay marriage.
Carrie needs to get out of the spotlight for awhile like Donna Rice did.
Soon...no one will speak out about anything. Because if they do, not only do they have to watch their skeletons and dirty laundry dragged through the media, they have to endure people like you. After all, she deserves this humiliation. She should have just said yes to the question about gay marriage. It would have been better for her in the long run.
Well 7 or 8 tapes. And turns out she wasn’t 17, but 19. The tape will come out and everyone involved will be embarrassed.
She is over.
Hardly. She's being mercilessly attacked by a demented, organized, national gay-MSM alliance. All she did was assert her belief in traditional marriage, while simultaniously respecting the beliefs of those who disagreed with her. What part of being mercilessly savaged by politically vindictive operatives is her fault?
She may have made her share of mistakes in her lifetime, but let’s get real. If this were any other Hollyweird celebrity, they’d be cooing over how difficult this all must be for her. Because of her awakening to Christianity, and speaking to those values now, she’s being pilloried for things that for someone like, oh lets say Britney Spears, would have brought nothing but gushes of sympathy.
There is a huge difference between being Christian and being Christ. Every Christian I know is flawed in some way, carrying regrets from past mistakes. Churches are full of fallen people who are at least striving to lift themselves obove their past with faith. Christianity is intended for sinners, the sinful, the fallen, the imperfect. It is about redemption. Christianity and redemption is expressly intended the likes of Perez Hilton and Carrie Presean.
It is a mistake to allow the anti-Christians to define us as hypocrites in this context. I don’ know anyone who has not beed hypocritical. I would rather be with flawed but striving hypocrites than with the likes of Perez Hilton who revel in debauchary and debase humanity with foul behavior.
I am a Christian. I am not Christ. Being a Christian will never make me Christ. All I can do is my best and hope that He will redeem me from my sins.
Your flared nostrils are showing again. Has the world not quivered hard enough under your gaze today?
She didn’t handle the tapes very well.
Handled right, she could have absolutely gotten 15 minutes of fame...
Gotta love the conservatism she promotes but her closet skeletons have made their appearance-—none of us is without past sins. Big difference is she rejects hers but the gay mafia and their ally media synchophants embrace theirs... But we know the score!
17 years old and she gave out a video of herself masturbating????
why do so many girls think they’re supposed to emulate porn stars?
