Al Gore Heckled During Global Warming Speech In Boca Raton By Noel Sheppard Created 2009-11-15 10:31

Nobel Laureate Al Gore was heckled during a global warming speech he gave Saturday in Boca Raton, Florida.

Addressing a crowd of a thousand people at the Mizner Park Amphitheater, Gore was repeatedly booed by about 200 protesters stationed outside the open-air facility.

As reported [1] by the Sun Sentinel Saturday (h/t NBer Blonde):

Stationed outside the Mizner Park Amphitheater, the protesters jeered at Gore as he took the podium and at those walking into the open-air venue to listen to the speech.

"This is the most dangerous crisis we've ever faced," Gore said of climate change. He spoke over a chorus of boos from protesters, who were monitored by at least a dozen uniformed city police officers.

Many of the protesters were with the groups Collegians for a Constructive Tomorrow and South Florida Tea Party, the latter of which feels that Gore's views will eventually lead to increased taxes and flawed business legislation.

The protesters carried drums, bullhorns and posters. One read "Practice what you preach," accusing Gore of not living a green lifestyle. Another poster read "The masses follow the asses," depicting the protesters' opinion that Gore's message is not backed by scientific evidence.

I'm verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves.

And I thought Boca was a liberal city.

Boca Raton is Spanish for mouth of a rat. Who would name a city that? Never understood it. I live just South of there. Couldn’t attend though, was at a nephew’s birthday party.

From Wiki: It was listed on early maps as "Boca Ratones". The literal translation of "Boca Raton" is "Mouse Mouth" ("rat" in Spanish is "rata"). One explanation for the origin is the Spanish word boca (or mouth) was (and still is) used to describe an inlet and ratón (literally mouse) was used by Spanish sailors to describe rocks that gnawed at a ship's cable. Another explanation is that it refers metaphorically to the sense of pirate's cove. The name Boca Ratones originally appeared on eighteenth century maps associated with an inlet in the Biscayne Bay area of Miami. By the beginning of the nineteenth century, the term was mistakenly moved north to its current location on most maps and applied to Lake Boca Raton, whose inlet was closed at the time.

Algore is clueless. Nuclear energy would solve all the problems: transportation, electrical power, carbon emissions, foreign oil dependence, etc. We have enough fuel to last all the aforementioned needs for 10,000 years.

Hey Algore, if you really believe you'll ever dry a load of laundry or drive you car to visit your boyfriend using solar or wind power - YOU'RE TOTALLY BRAIN DEAD! Ford and BMW have hydrogen burning cars NOW. Only nuclear energy can create the hydrogen without burning something.
