PENSACOLA, Fla. - An 18-year-old woman was shot to death Thursday night in West Pensacola. She was a member of the military, who was from Texas. Deputies are now working to find leads in the case.
A quiet West Pensacola neighborhood was rocked Thursday night when gunfire erupted.
"We saw blue lights coming down the street. We came outside, it was taped off down there. There were cops all over the place, NCIS showed up," Courtney Wells said.
"Deputies responded. On arrival they found a female laying in the road face down with multiple gun shot wounds. She was a young black female wearing sweats. It had some military insignia on them which turned us onto the fact that she might be military," Ted Roy with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities identified the victim as 18-year-old Tyler Jefferson. She was in fact a member of the military.
Witnesses said they often saw the victim running and walking in the neighborhood, and said she may have been exercising when she was killed.
FOX10 News spoke with one witness who didn't want to be identified. She called 911.
"They just pulled up on her and shot her three times. Close range, three times for no reason. Two people, they didn't get out, there was no changing words, no car door open, nothing."
Now neighbors are on guard.
So far, investigators haven't named any suspects or released a motive.

Well she was kind of into the hip hop culture according to her myspace.
Still, she was gunned down on the street while jogging. Seems like that would make the national news.
She was in school to become an Air Traffic Controller. She must have had something going for her. Tyler was black, maybe they don't bother to report these shootings nationally if the victim is black.

I doubt it also, but given so little is known, seems like it could have gotten more attention.
Remember Pvt. William Long, the Army private shot/killed in Arkansas by the Muslim? It got very little press coverage until the blogs pushed the story. In fact, that case has now disappeared from the radar.

Yes that is my point, there is too little info. Given what happened at Ft. Hood and in Arkansas, more information should be available. This shooting received too little attention.
I truly believe there is a war against white people happening now.
I have no problem in being convinced I'm wrong, but ... zero has not united America .. he has and is continueing to divide us, and unless more people of other color get on board the 'get rid of zero, he's the enemy' train .... I'll stick with that statement

You’re right that there is little evidence to suggest a profile of the killer, but angry people tend to fire multiple shots. OJ Simpson used a knife, but if you recall what he actually did with the knife, his example is particularly vivid.

He has done more to separate us than the Confederacy ever did with secession. On the other hand, he seems to be uniting a lot of people, in opposition to his policies.
