I urge all FReepers who agree with me and Engineer Soldier to at least investigate Marco Rubio, and if they like what they see, to join me in contributing to his campaign so he can beat RINO Crist (Scozzafava redux?) in the Florida primary for U.S. Senate. Rubio ain't perfect, but it appears that he's at least 80 percent, and if it was good enough for Reagan, it's good enough for me.
Being part of FR is a good start in reclaiming our Republic, but it's ONLY a start ... contributing to Republicans who can vanquish the RINO establishment is how I am going to start putting my money where my mouth is. NY23 was a "teachable moment." Crist is one who MUST be rejected by Republicans if conservatives want to take back our party.
....I could understand a tingle up my leg with Palin...but Obie????..naaahh
Here's what Schwarzenegger taught me: If you vote Republican and the candidate who bears the (R) is a big government liberal, you are CREATING THE ENVIRONMENT WHERE OBAMA HAPPENS. The only reason Obama is able to appear "centrist" in any way is because the "right" has edged so very far left. The last two decades of people -- myself included -- voting exactly as you prescribe, out of fear rather than courage, created the Obama scenario.
Obama hurts the here and now, but you can bet your ass that he's creating a whole lotta future Republicans if the Republican party takes on the banner of LIMITED GOVERNMENT. McCain would have hurt the here and now more slowly than Obama, but unlike Obama, he would have mortally wounded any hope of folks looking to the Republican party as an alternative to Big Government Liberalism because he would have destroyed any possiblity that the Republican party could reclaim the banner of LIMITED GOVERNMENT in time to save this great Republic.
I am not a third-party person, but I realize that this is like being on a ship headed for shoals, and the ONLY WAY to make that ship change course is via my vote. As long as I -- AND YOU, Jacob -- continue to vote for candidates who want bigger government, the ship will continue toward the shoals. The fact that those big-government candidates happen to be Republicans offers zero change in course. The only way this ship will change course is when big government proponents start losing. If I have to vote third party in order to make big government Republicans lose, then that's the life of a sailor.
Ditto
Its quite theraputic for me!
Uh, you "do" remember the little phrase "Bedtime for Bonzo" and who it was associated with??? And how the media characterized that person as "dumber than Bonzo"?? And how that person was later elected to two terms as President??
Now, tell me again that "the damage was lasting and cannot be overcome". Sarah seems to be doing all the right things--mostly bypassing the media to go directly the people--just as Reagan did.
Because Barack Obama is in Japan.
Ronald Reagan was a special case. Reagan earned his bona fides as a spokesman for GE. I have often attempted to find transcripts of those speeches because they were so compelling and powerful. Furthermore, Reagan was in the minds of many a successful governor of a state having a very large population. Reagan had an established reputation reputation and the media tried but was unable undermine his character. The first impression Reagan made held - proving the importance of first impressions.
You betcha. Just watch. She’s been on defense so far. Now it’s her turn to show why she should be our next president. Shock and Awe baby.
Hope So, What I am Looking for is the Independence and Fortitude that I have seen In Liz Cheney when a Turd Reporter fires a Loaded Question she tells them right out I dont except your premise you are wrong and then takes Control . If Sarah Palin can show that she is in ,no waffling and usual Political BS answers.
It seems a good thing that the Governor polarizes. It is good to know your enemies. I’ve had it with mushy dem-lite politicians, rinos, whine-o’s and other pretenders. If you don’t like the Governor and her policies vote for someone else. Yes, she will be attacked, but so what? Politics isn’t all doves and bells. As long as the dimocrats and their minions dislike her, she must be doing something right. Conservatives in...others OUT!
Did the left not notice that foot placed firmly on the back of their pants?
“Once the image of being non too bright is created it is indelible.”
Nonsense. Do you remember the Reagan election? Also, GWB was portrayed as an idiot by the press before he was elected.
The image will only be “indelible” if Palin lives up to it. I seriously doubt she will. Lately she’s showing herself to be a tough, savvy politician.
We’ll certainly know more by 2012, but at the moment she’s head and shoulders above the competition.
The New York Washington corridor is an island of fantasy surrounded by a sea of reality. IMHO
NeoCons are Palin's biggest supporters and they hope to get her into the White House and co-opt her administration.
As for the Reagan connection, Continetti accurately describes Reagan as Pragmatist.
Pragmatists and NeoCons are oil and water.
