SHANE BAUER: The fluent Arabic speaker was based in Damascus, where he lived with Sarah Shourd...

...SARAH SHOURD: "Everyday I feel ashamed at what my country has done to [Iraq]".

JOSH FATTAL: An environmentalist and teacher, he was recently employed by a non-profit organisation that researches sustainable lifestyles. He travelled to Damascus in the summer to meet Shane Bauer and Sarah Shourd for a hiking holiday. He reportedly posted an entry on his Facebook page on 17 July, saying that he was in the Middle East and planning a trip to Kurdistan.

My thoughts exactly. Perhaps the country would be better off if these sorts of hikers went hiking Gaza and the Lebanese border with Israel in between ceasefires.

SARAH SHOURD: "Everyday I feel ashamed at what my country has done to [Iraq]".

Then for God sake don't ask for her help now that you are in trouble.

Hey, it’s a nice day - I feel like taking a hike. Where should I go? How about frickin’ Iran - yeah that’s the ticket. Yeah, right.

Anyone (liberal airheads) stupid enough to go wandering into Iran deserves whatever they get.

I say let ‘em stay and enjoy the hospitality. Maybe miss “ashamed” will get a re-education.

For some reason I thought they were all kids.
The article said the two guys are 27 and she's 31.

Old enough to know....

Let’s say we got them out TODAY —does anyone really believe they’d make all kinds of “Thank you America, screw Iran..!”-type statements?

No way.

They’d experience the briefest flash of relief, then to their growing consternation realize that in order to get along in the (liberal) element they were returning to they’d have to CONTINUE making anti-US pronouncements.

In fact, they’d all come under huge, huuuuge pressure to do just that. They’d get lucrative speaking invitations to liberal Universities, for example.

And so they would turn night into day, and say that Iran ***hadn’t been that bad at all, after all***.

SO KEEP THEM.

I always feel like these things are staged. Just like the two Current ‘journalists’ (courtesy of Al Gore) getting picked up inside N Korea. I wonder if they think that Zero will save them and he can look good doing it. What a phony Admin and phony ‘hostage’ accomplices.

PS-I always figured that the Nicholas Berg thing was staged, too. He and his father trying to make GWB look bad. I did sense genuine anguish from the dad when Berg was beheaded though. I'm sure it never occurred to the Berg family that the terrorists would do such a thing, after all his father proclaimed he believed that the terrorists felt Nicholas humanity before murdering (my term) him.

"SO KEEP THEM"

Same hate America crowd as the Gorebites who put on the show at the ChiCom/NKorea border.

Remember the American Commies who went to Baghdad as human shields?

All these Commies communicate and plan with one another.

In the case of the Iran hikers, their goal was to keep western forces from striking Iran's nuke sites.

They sure don’t sound like undercover CIA operatives, which is the only reason a sane person go on a “hiking holiday” in Iran. So they’re loony private citizens who romanticized hellholes like Iraq while hating the U.S. I see no reason not to just leave them in the land of their dreams.

“JOSH FATTAL: An environmentalist.

translation: “obstructionist”

Gee, i wonder how much jet fuel it took to get those clowns to Iraq so they could go “hiking”.

Yes, please keep them Iran.
