And this is in rural Arkansas, no less ... I shudder to think about the places we've lost to the Left.

And this is in rural Arkansas, no less ... I shudder to think about the places we've lost to the Left. I don't think it's as bad as all that. This is,most likely, just a little sissy boy who,in ten years, will be a hair dresser on the Upper West Side.

Nor, for that matter, of an involved father anywhere within flying distance.

"Theyve been especially dismayed by the effort to take away the rights of homosexuals the right to marry, and the right to adopt." If they really support gay adoption, they could let a couple of their gay, male friends adopt Will.
After all, don't support something for someone else that you wouldn't do yourself.
That would be hypocrisy.

Will said that he cant foresee anything in the near future that will make him stand for the pledge. Perhaps, years from now, when his husband is elected president, he will say: "For the first time in my life, I am proud of my country."

Nothing was mentioned of attending church services. In ten years you're likely to find him at the local Unitarian/Universalist "church".

"Theyve been especially dismayed by the effort to take away the rights of homosexuals the right to marry, and the right to adopt. "
This smells more like a gay sympathizer brainwashing and using her son to attract media attention to her agenda.
Homosexuals have the same rights to marry, and adopt, as everyone else. They have NOT lost any rights, moreover, they have gained special rights of non-discrimination and afforded extra protection under the hate crimes bill.
This is just another ploy to get Special Rights...not Equal Rights. I've had it with the "special rights" segments of this society...they bitch the loudest about not having rights, yet get preference from the government - and increasingly from a political correct society gone amuk.
Lifestyle choices do not deserve, or earn, special rights.

He can play this game...but at this point...he’s the “gay-kid” and this nickname will stick with him until he graduates from high school...which I doubt will never occur...or he packs up and moves to California.
I will point this out...the pledge didn’t really start in America until the mid-1890s...and nationwide...it might have another ten years before it was a regular event. This came from the sudden burst of patriotism that occurred after the Spanish-American War. It has no connection to Thomas Jefferson or the Constitution.....as some folks might think.

Will is saying and doing what he wants mommy to hear so he can get her approval and love.
This is purely a reflection of that.
My oldest boy...9...does that at school but from my persepctive.
It drives his PC teacher crazy...lol
Now how the school should handle this is up to discussion I guess. Let him sit it out?
next his mommy will say he feels ostracized...believe me...that is a key thing in schools now.

A 10 year-old calls himself “fuming and furious” and tells his teacher to jump off a bridge? Drama queen!! Gee, I wonder where he got his attitude?
Has anyone seen the TV show Glee? The gay kid told his macho dad that he was “full of ennui” because they wouldn’t let him sing a female part - it was hilarious.
