Bush Warns of Threats to Freedom, Economic Growth
Washington Times ^ | 11-13-09 | Joseph Curl

Former President George W. Bush, outlining plans for a new public policy institute, on Thursday said America must fight the temptation to allow the federal government to take control of the private sector, declaring that too much government intervention will squelch economic recovery and expansion.

(snip)

In his speech, which set out his goals for a new policy institute focused on economic growth, education, human freedom and global health, Mr. Bush said he entered politics because "because I saw society drifting away from the values at the heart of the American Dream."

Posting a thread is somehow a subject for criticism also?

Absolutely. FR isn't a Bush fan club site, or at least it isn't supposed to be.

Go away, idiot.

You spent our money for 8 years as if you were in possession of a credit card that said, “United States Tax Payers.”

I guess you were, you thief.

Too bad you and Rove will never go to jail for robbery.

I’m not arguing otherwise - problem is, there are way too many people on FR who are stuck on stupid. Bush is no longer the problem, but people want to continue to focus on what was and not what is. Bush opened the gates. Obozo and the demoncRATS have pushed through the floodwater. Closing the barn door after the cows have already escaped provides no solutions. I hear people bashing a person who no longer is no longer in a position to be held accountable, while those who are purposely destroying this country are not being held accountable for what they are presently doing. It’s pathetic IMHO to go after Bush when the target is in the WH doing whatever the hell he wants.

McCain was a train wreck looking for a place to happen - and did. However, I firmly believe that McCain winning the Primary was due to manipulation. He was not the best candidate in the race, but was the one “chosen” in order to make sure that Obozo won.

Amen. I have prayed to God asking forgiveness for the sins of this nation and for the very reasons you have listed here. You are correct that the people of this country are complicit in this nation's downfall (presently happening), and that if we do not change our ways we will wind up like other democracies in the past. We have become to content and lazy, and have lost the understanding of how hard it was to forge this nation initially. Too many people now believe they are owed, not that they have a duty/responsibility to do for themselves.

You ascribe a motive to my posting this thread that is absent from my posts. In other words, you a deducing in a vacuum.

My point: Tearing Bush down 1) minimizes Bush’s PRESENT efforts, and 2) delights Obama.

Could you possibly give Obama a greater gift? ...other than to actually join his team and espouse his Marxist ideology.

To realize the wisdom of not bashing Bush now is in no way analogous to being a “Bush-bot” in the same vein as the Obots.

It is not possible to compare anything Bush did for whatever motives to the malevolent, constitutionally subversive motives and actions of Obama’s intentional Marxist will and purposeful efforts to destroy America.

To do so would be to commit the very foolish act of straining at gnats while exploding from too many self-ingested camels.

Bush lost me the minute he uttered the words “compassionate conservatism” in his 2000 inaugural address. I all but fell out of my chair when I heard those words.

I knew we were in great trouble…and we were.

I never wanted him to be our president; but as usual, he was shoved down our throats like everything else.

A lot of folks voted for Cheney and not for Bush…like McCain and Palin.

Thanks for posting the link showing the list of vetoes by Pres. Bush.

I amazes me the lies I see about Pres. Bush on this conservative forum.

President Bush deserves serious praise for his steady stand on LIFE alone, not even taking into account the many other great things he did, the most important, of course, being his stand for the DEFENSE of our country day in and day out year after year.

The mob mentality here disgusts me. It's so easy for these people to get whipped into a frenzy of hate.

It’s really unsettling to see people on FR behaving just like carbon copies of the democrats when they start eating their own.

I agree with your whole post.

You are the one who started casting aspersions of other Freepers posts to your thread because we don’t agree with your stance. Now, you can’t stand the criticism. Man up and take it. Frankly, I could give a damn what Bush has to say now. He had 8 years to advance conservatism and he blew it, either by acquiescence or design. He gets no forgiveness from me, especially concerning the bailout bill he signed.

.........................still missing the point, which is that even if I were to agree with your every opinion about Bush I would be a fool to say so. I would think my self-important hindsight about Bush to be at best counter-productive to fighting the present enemy of America’s freedom.

I’m going to keep my mind focused on my opponent-—the deadly Obama player on the court, not the my team’s Bush player sidelined long ago. He’s on my team, in the dugout. He’s been benched. lol. Why do I want to bash him unless he is rooting for the other side? Rage on....

You posted this thread on a Bush article, but you say you want to focus on Obama while simultaneously getting your panties in a twist because some FReepers call out Bush for not being the conservative he campaigned as and set us all up for economic failure by signing the bailout bill? LOL! You want to focus on Obama? Fine. Go post an Obama thread. There's plenty of material to work with. Just don't expect to post anything Bush related and not get a different response than you are expecting.

Title of Thread:

Bush Warns of Threats to Freedom, Economic Growth

the more warnings given, the better; thus the reason for the thread.

I really don’t give a damn what Bush has to say on the subject. His self appointed credentials as a free market capitalist have been permanently stained by his own hand. His words ring hollow.

Oh no...not posting a thread...posting a BUSH thread is what brings down the wrath of the almighty BDS Club! You must have missed that one word from the comment.
"You posted the Bush thread, slick. You defend him.”

So you see, it matters not that YOU did not write the article but simply posted it to a news forum, the fact it was about President George W. Bush sends some into fits of incomprehensible rage and angst. It effects their cognizant thinking skills and shorts out the neutrons that help them with reading comprehension.

You’re fighting the last war. Why?

I'm fighting the current war, thouworm. And it is a war to save my country. And this war *did not* just begin with Obama's election.

TARP, bailouts...These all began under BUSH! Wake up!

And when Obama begins his push for amnesty next year, let's not forget who the last President was who tried to ram that one down our throats.

And don't worry about my "expenditure of energies and verbal powers." I am quite capable of taking a mere 5 minutes out of my day to reply to a post about Bush hypocrisy without losing sight of the fact that Obama is the current President.
