How U.N. redefined 'pandemic' to heighten alarm over H1N1

In light of a perceived swine flu outbreak, the World Health Organization raised its influenza pandemic alert to its second highest level in May – but evidence reveals the agency may have made it easier to classify the flu outbreak as a pandemic by changing its definition to omit "enormous numbers of deaths and illness" just prior to making its declaration.

WHO, a specialized agency of the United Nations, issued its pandemic declaration – the first in 40 years – just as 74 countries had reported 144 deaths from the novel H1N1 infection.

The world was gripped with fears of swine flu as the alert increased from Phase 5 to Phase 6, the highest level. Immediately, pharmaceutical companies began working to develop vaccines, and countries tailored their responses to address the situation.

Dr. Thomas Frieden, who assumed leadership of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, on June 8, announced that the U.S. would respond aggressively to the virus.

"There has been excellent global cooperation with the World Health Organization, with countries around the world," Frieden said. "This is one of the many conditions that reminds us that we are all connected and many of our decisions in the U.S. will rely on good information from countries in Latin America, in Africa, in Asia, Australia and elsewhere. It's very important that we confront this jointly."

The current WHO phase of pandemic alert remains at 6, indicating a full-blown global pandemic.

But in early May, just prior to the initial declaration, WHO made little-noticed changes to its definition of a pandemic.

In early July Margaret Chan, the head of the WHO, conducted forum in Cancun Mexico. She stressed that the overwhelming majority of patients experienced mild symptoms and made a full recovery within a week, often in the absence of any form of medical treatment.

The exceptions, she said, were pregnant women and people with underlying health problems, who were at higher risk from complications from the virus and should be monitored if they fell ill.

I would believe they perceive a crisis real or feigned gives them cover for extraordinary steps to counter said crisis.

We could call it the Rahm Emmanuel syndrome amongst the trendy movers and shakers of the Leftistsphere I s’pose.

Conspiracy theory alert... Maybe this was done to assess the capability of governments to force panicked populations to take a micro-chip in the future and has nothing to do with a variant of the seasonal flu.

Just a reason to use taxpayer money to provide the H1N1 vaccine for free but still let doctors charge to administer it. What a lot of hype for the press to report. Guess it’s just a way to distract us from the real news. Yes there have been deaths, but it seems there wouldn’t be a vaccine shortage if we were using it primarily for the target group(s) most at risk.

That's my feeling...This was a social experiment.

Lest one overlook a fact....The highest death rate from the flu is in the over 60 group...the very peopl who are denied the vaccine.

Also, there IS a difference between the live and dead virus. Why did they create two kinds?? To look at stats and nothing more.

If one goes back to the Polio vaccine. There was a live virus given out at first. Kids in one town were effectively "murdered" and they discontinued the live vaccine. THEY HAD BEEN WARNED.

H1N1 is a mild flu. This thing is crazy. I'd like to see the stats on pregnant women and miscarriages who were vaccinated.

This was just the dry run. The connected were lined up first and got their shots. The rest of us were allowed later. I guess they are happy with their sheeple experiment.

Is anyone really surprised by this? - Nobody should be; we haven't been told the truth about the flu for decades.

Government needs panic to increase their control of individuals.

One town? - It was the entire state of California, and probably more. I have a number of friends that had their lives shattered by this killer vaccine from Cutter Labratories in Berkeley.

The vaccine is for the fools, and those that no longer control their own lives, such as our troops.

Guess what? Over 55 million people die in this world every year! That is over 150 thousand people that die each and every day!
