Someone at the RNC Must be Fired Over This.

Let’s keep this simple. Word got out today via Politico that the RNC’s health care package for their employees covers abortions. At the risk of belaboring the obvious, if you at any time have donated to the RNC since 1991 (when this policy apparently took place), some incremental portion of your donation went to the administrative costs of running the RNC, including employee salaries and benefits packages. Part of “benefits packages” in this context is apparently a health care package that pays for abortions.

For thirty years, we have fought tooth and nail to prevent our tax money from being used to pay for abortions. Turns out, we were apparently doing it through donating to the political party that was ostensibly on our side. This betrayal is so fundamental to the majority of people who donate to the RNC that it’s almost unspeakable. I have no doubt that many of the staffers there will miss the point, so allow me to make it clearly: you have caused every person who donated to support your livelihood to become involved in what they perceive to be a grave moral evil.

Probable, in fact. This is a pure hatchet job. Witness the freepers on this thread who apparently think this is the Republican’s alternative to obamanationcare.

I’m no friend of the RNC (see tag), but this is pure SRM propaganda that is even working on freepers. Scary, to say the least.

Some states require group plans to cover abortion.

This is why I don’t participate in group plans.

A quick question because I don’t know. Can companies pick and choose what goes in a plan, or do the insurance sompanies say something like these are the plans available which do you want?

"Does YOUR insurance policy cover abortions? Do you even know? I know I don’t."

That is a very interesting question, I know I don't , and I'm willing to bet that a majority of people that have never thought of an abortion do either.

This question has the benefit of fitting on a bumper-sticker and the potential of inspiring many States across the Nation to make sure that abortion is not required under their laws regarding what plans are offered.

From what I read they have the option to opt out..the RNCC doesnt pay for abortion coverage...

I’m sure this is an oversight of some kind...but hardly worth termination...

It sure seems to have to as a surprise to the RNC....

And no one noticed that obviously the timing of this relevation is suspect to say the least....someone was digging around for a club to beat the stupak amendment with...

My how convienient...

A quick answer because I can only speak for a small business in Minnesota...

NO!!, You get about 4 or 5 companies to choose from and the different policies you choose from differ in co-payments not "services covered"

My current policy could very well cover abortions, I don't know and have never thought to even ask the question.

If my firm's insurance covers abortion, please don't confuse that with us being "pro-baby killers" Nothing could be farther from the truth!

I hope the RNC can say the same thing, and will believe they do until proven otherwise.

Someone in the RNC / bowels of the GOP, they have decided to move a GOP-approved candidate into the Michigan 7th to take on Mark Schauer.

Mind you, this was a GOP “safe” seat until this year, and Tim Walberg’s campaign is well underway to take back that seat (Tim had it for 2 years before Schauer, replacing the RINO Joe Schwarz).

I don’t like it when the GOP moves in people just to win an election, especially when the local people can do it on their own w/ a very conservative candidate.

You wonder why these people lose to the Democrats as much as they do. Yes the media hurts them, but they do a lot of stupid things like this too.

How about letting Bill Owens NY 23 Democrat get seated before he is even certified. They could have used the Roland Burris case that he wasn’t allowed to be seated until he was certified in Illinois.

How much Federal money they wasted that could have been used to lower the deficit during the Bush years, etc.

The RNC, RNCC, and the NRSC is not worthy of our support. Individual candidates are.

I must honestly say it never occurred to me that private insurance plans might pay for elective abortions.

If insurance companies do pay for these, I'll bet most women covered by insurance aren't aware of it either.

I always thought the purpose of Planned Parenthood et al was to "help" women who didn't have access to "family planning" options, which to me assumes insurance payments wouldn't be available. I just don't see the local abortion clinic asking for one's insurance card.

It's interesting to note that the price for an abortion has not increased at the rate of other medical services, which would imply market forces rather than insurance coverage.

Well, wait a minute.....

Does YOUR company healthcare cover abortions?
Mine does!

I’m as Pro-Life as they come, but I don’t have the power to influence what kind of coverage our insurance company provides.
I’m not sure you can buy a policy that doesn’t cover it.
I’m open to being educated here, but how about a real world assessment first?

Just about every state, and now the fed gov’t, mandates certain coverage for certain needs, which the insurance carrier and recipient can’t opt out of.

You are correct...

...but don't try to tell this to the knee-jerks who love to get angry at every MSM ploy to get them to hate Repubs.

Remember the Mark Foley trick and how outraged conservatives were at that non-story?

Huh... I wonder if my health insurer covers abortions? I wonder if I am subsidizing abortions through my health insurance premiums? Huh...

Note to RNC, there is no such thing as a little evil.
This is the support of evil at its' worst, period.

I’m sure this news story is Democrat agitation and counterattack.

But it really doesn’t change my view that the RNC is a liberal RINO controlled preserve.

Mr. Steele is just itching to be more liberal based on comments we’ve caught coming out of his mouth.

RNC Deputy Chairman, James Bopp, is the longtime general counsel of the National Right To Life Committee.

Its very embarrassing and perhaps revealing to see this.

But the RNC should at least correct the problem.
