This is a huge loss for talk radio in the Seattle area. Those who know Kirby love him for the concern he has for his community, his fellow citizens and this nation. Since this is so early in the news curve, there are few details about why this has happened.

I think in this recession we could use a lot of local generated shows in favor of cheaper alternatives.

WOW - I listen to him .... reasons???? Most likely too conservative for the local Libs and Dems in Seattle ... bet they find an Ed Shultz type to replace him - KVI also carries Sean Hannity, Mark Lavin and Laura Ingram ....

Let me guess.
Although popular, not the icon Rush or Sean.
A call from the Chicago mafia, and poof!

No offense, but listening to Kirby was pretty difficult. He always sounded as though he had a handful of marbles in his mouth. He was sincere and appreciably conservative but after awhile his show was stale. Just sayin’

Sad news. Kirby is very good. I'll miss listening to him.
I wish they had shortened his show instead. It's 4 hours. Who else does a 4-hour show? No one that I know of.

Dang... I’ve been a KVI listener for about 20 years. I remember when Kirby started with his evening show.
Something really bad has been happening at KVI since they lost Rush to KTTH.

You have got to be kidding me? Kirby Gone from KVI? KVI hasn't made a stupid move like that since they dropped Rush, who KTTH picked up. Kirby is the last of the great Northwest conservative radio host.

They set him free?
Now he can be truly free to say what he wants, I hope he does some PJTV while he sets up for a come back.

Sorry to hear this Kirby. KVI continues to deliberately seek its own demise through irrelevance...

My guess is Glen Beck was hurting Kirby's ratings pretty bad.
He is a good local host. Without him, there is not much reason to listen to KVI.
AM - now who?
Dennis Miller over Rush?
Hannity is the worst debater
Laura Ing is OK
Weisback?
Levin needs to get some guests
Brian and the Judge rerun
George Norre's (sp) space aliens (it can be entertaining)
They are probably going all syndicated.

Listeners have been trying to get Kirby to run for political office. Having Kirby and Susan Hutchison smack down Cantwell and Murray would be sweet.

Anyone know the market share Wilbur is drawing? If it is high enough, I would look for another station to try and sign him?

The theory of ratings while up against Glenn Beck on KTTH doesn't wash. If ratings is what it is all about then why Dennis Miller up against Rush? And why bring back Weissbach? I don't listen to either and I don't know who does.
To: jonrick46
And he is so much more than a talk show host. He is a conservative activist like few others in the business. He was able to get people involved who normally would not. When he asked callers to call a phone number, like a school principle who expelled a child for having a nail clippers, the Kirby Army burned up the phone lines. When he ask callers to send money in to assist a fallen officers wife and kids, his listeners doubled the expectations.
And I have stood shoulder to shoulder with Kirby at numerous Support the Troop Rallies where all other local radio host were AWOL. I'll miss him
To: jonrick46
Wow - thats too bad. At least he talked about local issues
(he lives in Duvall, I think). I can’t stand the madman
whom KTTH runs in the morning before Rush, so I’ll point
my browser at WB AP and listen to Hal Jay do DFW drivetime and then Mark Davis.
I hope they put something useful in that slot.
