RANA AND HEADLEY: SMART, BUT NOT WISE
The case of Rana and Headley, currently in Federal custody in Chicago, provides a number of examples of good tradecraft. I'm not sure it's so much terrorist tradecraft as it is spycraft in the service of terrorism, but in any event, these two gentlemen and their colleagues get an "A" for effort. That they ultimately failed has to do with their lack of appreciation for the capabilities of their adversaries. Their efforts did little to keep them safe, and now those efforts will be used as evidence of their guilt. Good going guys!
The following comes from the first criminal complaint filed by the USA against Rana. Individual A is Headley.
