Here's a hard truth for the hard right
The Philadelphia Inquirer ^ | November 8, 2009 | Michael Smerconish

Who is Dede Scozzfava? ...

"This is my party, too," she insisted. "There are a lot of moderate people - Republicans, like me - and I'm hearing from an awful lot of them. And I think the Republican Party needs to know if they don't have room for us and they don't want us working with them, we're going to find a way to work against them."

She acknowledged that many in the GOP would differ with her support for abortion rights and same-sex marriage. But she maintained that she approached those views from a conservative vantage point - a respect for individual liberties...

Her gun-rights bona fides, meanwhile, are beyond reproach. She received an A rating from the National Rifle Association in each election since 2002 (A-plus in 2000) and supported the New York Gun Owners of America in 100 percent of the relevant votes in 2002...

On Thursday, I asked former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who had called Scozzafava's nomination a "train wreck," whether the GOP was better off with Owens headed to Washington. "No, not at all," he said. "The danger of pushing third-party candidates is that you end up with a Democrat rather than a less-than-desirable Republican." ...

This person clearly doesn’t understand that given a choice between a liberal Republican and a democrat, the democrat usually gets the votes.

If you are a Republican, and you try to out-liberal a liberal, it does not work.

"...if they don't have room for us and they don't want us working with them, we're going to find a way to work against them."

Dede, I think that "working against" us was the reason you got yourself sidelined. We already have plenty of Democrats like you doing that.

"This is my party, too,"

No, it is not. You score a zero on the conservative scale.

Get out, Beotch.

Stand in line. McCain's already ahead in that department. '08 pretty much destroyed any argument against the viability of a "moderate" path, which is just socialism in smaller doses.

The problem with the rino's is they think they're calling the shots. The conservatives are the main supporters of the party. If they don't want to support core conservative principals then don't run as a Pub.

Thanks Huckabee, but Hoffman wasn’t a third party candidate. He’s a Republican.

Yet, when she bowed out, she chose to endorse the RAT when, if Smerconish's list of her bona fides is correct it would seem she would've had more in common with Hoffman than Owens.

Damned pesky details.

I’m sick of hearing these idiots talk about how vast their numbers are yet these are the same clowns who come begging for money from conservatives they despise.

If their numbers are so vast, they should form their own party and teach us all a lesson. Or they could STFU and join the democrats.

I agree. What I don’t understand is why they think that we are kicking them out? You can all be in the party, but you have to win our votes. Not all Republicans win all votes. As a matter of fact, more republicans lost to republicans than democrats! Look at the primaries. How many republicans lose to the one who wins the nomination? Are they kicked out? Absolutely not. They just didn’t win. So stop your whining Scuzzyfascist and her supporters. Don’t think that nobody smells the excrement you’re shoveling. Now it’s your turn to hold your noses and vote for our candidates. As John McCain’s mom similarly stated to conservatives in the last election. If you take Conservatives for granted again, you will continue to lose.

If there were 2 people I could expel from the Republican party, it would Olympia Snowe and Lindsay Grahamnesty. Scuzzyfascist isn’t even on the list because she’s a Democrat.

She like all left wing Democrats and RINOS are anti-Constitution and anti-American and should never be elected to anything.

Get us a government that will return us to our Supreme Law of the land the Constitution. And not let nor allow the
Federal Courts to make laws which is in direct violation of the Supreme Law of the land.

I would say that most of the laws that are not in effect for the Federal government are unconstitutional but one cannot get the courts to read the Constitution and declare them unconstitutional as they should.

How is she "moderate?" Her views are hard-left. She is correct in that there is no room in the GOP for hard-left candidates.

Here is just one example: Right wing is: No abortion ever, under any circumstances except maybe to protect the life of the mother. Moderate is: abortion only for rape, incest and to protect the life of the mother. Left is: freedom of choice for all women to have abortions. Dede is left-wing, not moderate.

Here is just one more example: Right wing is: labor unions should be dissolved. Moderate is: Labor unions are valuable at the local level, when membership is purely voluntary and votes are secret. Left-wing is: All workers should be required to join the union, either by legislative fiat, or by brute force. Card Check is left-wing. Dede is left-wing, not moderate.

If you are a conservative, there is no room for moderates (which is what one liberal calls another). If you are only concerned about how many Republicans are elected, maybe you do have something to worry about. I am not interested in electing Republicans, but I am interested in electing conservatives. A Republican that supports abortion is no different to me than a Democrat that supports abortion.
