US Officials: We Punished Netanyahu with Media Blackout
Israel Today ^ | 11/11/009

Posted on 11/11/2009 7:53:15 AM PST by tefis

Senior US diplomatic sources have confirmed that the media blackout and shroud of secrecy surrounding Monday's meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama was the result of strained relations between the two leaders.

Speaking to Israel's Army Radio on Wednesday morning, one unnamed US diplomat said the Obama Administration had become unhappy with what is viewed as Netanyahu's efforts to manipulate its policies during press briefings, and imposed the media blackout on Monday's meeting as a means of bringing the Israeli leader back in line.

The official also accused Netanyahu of indirectly pressuring Obama via Jewish-American lobby groups.

A day earlier, another US official told the Wall Street Journal that Obama and his staff had been severely disappointed with what Netanyahu said or didn't say during his meeting with the president.

"We had an idea that he might bring something out to push the [peace] process forward," the official said. "But he's kept it in his pocket."

That dissatisfaction came just a little more than a week after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton openly praised Netanyahu for implementing "unprecedented" and even unnecessary concessions for the sake of restarting peace talks with the Palestinians.

It would seem Israeli gestures have a shelf-life of only about one week in Washington these days.

We punished Netanyahu? Can you say hubris? I'll bet A-jad got a kick out of this! Our treatment toward our allies is shocking.

This is too rich! Obama is afraid to appear on camera with Netanyahu!

Because he looks weak and inarticulate in comparison...

I would point out that in Obama’s mind and much of the Dem party for that matter, they are NOT our allies. To them, our allies should be murderous terrorists, dictators and fascists.

Net should come out of the meeting, stand in front of the cameras and say “Obama just confirmed to me he will not assist Israel anymore because he’s a muslim. Our missiles should be hitting Iran about right now.”

Theodore Roosevelt had Booker T. Washington to dinner at the White House, but did not permit any photographs to be taken. Irony.

Netanyahu should have called Rush Limbaugh. He would have gotten some listeners. It might have shaken up the Jewish community also. Their reflexive liberalism is not very smart. He might also want to book some time with Glen Beck.

So the administration has now admitted that they own the media?

Does not explain why Bibi has refused any comment (that I’ve seen) about the meeting....

Could it be that Bibi told our fool-in-chief what’s gonna happen, and there ain’t a darned thing Zero can do about it??

Just thinkin’......

ZERO, our first Islamist president, treated Bibi the same way he treated The Tea Party—play it down and pretend it has no significance. The State Dept is riddled with Leftists. You would think there would have been more of a flap about this event, but non event to the media..

Netanyahu should launch a few hearty airstrikes on Iran and then announce, “Yeah, it was done at Ubama’s request.”

Keep it in mind that we have a rag-head president...

So, if the administration can prevent the public media from reporting on an event of international importance, how can there be a free media?

Conservatives need to take advantage of this gift from Obama and nail him to the cross with it. Investigate and then annihilate.

I have been saying it for awhile now but I will say it again: Israel/Netanyahu should promptly tell the Barry administration to frak off and no further dealings with the US until the Barry administration is removed from office.
