The New Iran Man at the State Department's Iran Desk
The American Thinker ^ | Ed Lasky

John Limbert will be the senior Iran official at the State Department, replacing Dennis Ross, who has moved to the National Security Council (and who has not been heard from publicly since). Should America be concerned? Yes. Limbert is not a neutral arbiter; he serves on the advisory board of the National Iranian American Council (NIAC).

What is the National Iranian American Council?

The Council is widely considered the de facto lobby for the Iranian regime in America. It opposes sanctions on Iran, soft-pedals any controversial events in Iran, and counsels "patience" regarding Iran's stance towards its nuclear program. The NIAC has been at the forefront of lobbying against continued congressional funding of the Voice of America Persia service, Radio Farad, and grants for Iranian civil society. To top it off, the NIAC has reportedly received funding from anti-Israel advocate George Soros, who at the very least was an honored guest and speaker at one of its symposiums. (He called for a more equitable Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and advocated for America to renounce regime-change as a goal).

“John Limbert is simply the best possible pick for that position.” -— the official neo-commie position.

No he’s the worst possible choice.

Limbert is a notorious sympathizer and promoter of Iran. Amazingly he was one of the US Embassy hostages held for 444 days in 1979/80. He went native very early in the 1960s; and his wife is Iranian.

Instead of representing the US to Iran he took it upon himself to represent Iran to the US.

After first escaping the fire in the US Embassy stairwell, he joined the crowd outside chanting Allah Aquba... and other such crazed Kohemeni (the evil swine) inspired nonsense.

The thing to remember here is almost unthinkable, but on the evidence, it’s inescapable.

Within the Obama administration, probably up to the Preisdent himself, there are many leftists who WANT Iran to get a nuclear weapon.

I suspect Limbert is of that (publicly unspoken) school.

Though he is, apparently, a decent guy on a personal level, by written accounts of the Hostage crisis. He is a bonafide Iran cultist. And clearly a longtime appeaser of a wicked regime.

If true it is very interesting & disturbing about John Limbert.

In the Iranian-American society, NIAC and Trita Parsi are know to represent the government of Iran. Though they claim otherwise, as mentioned in this article, NIAC’s position on many issues are aligned with those of Islamic Republic of Iran. NIAC is known in Iran as a lobbyist group for the Iranian government. Of course to save their face, after the world witnessed the brutal crackdown on the Iranian citizens by IRI, NIAC has come to speak out against the human rights violations by IRI.

Mr. Obama has decided NOT to be on the side of humanity by responding to the Iranian youth asking him to either choose the terrorist government of Iran or choose them. Obviously he showed he has chosen the terrorist government of Iran by hiring a NIAC’s advisor and ex-hostage John Limber. I believe Mr. President will come to regret this decision. The pro-democracy movement in Iran will NOT stop regardless of what Mr. Obama does but history will not be kind to him for not supporting this movment.

Regarding Trita Parsi, and NIAC.

“On January 18, 2008, Trita Parsi was asked “why NIAC never takes any meaningful stand against human rights violations in Iran?”

Trita Parsi in the clip below repsonded: “Let me first off tell you that NIAC is not a Human Rights Organization; this is not our expertise”.

Interesting info about Limbert. I think this writer's comment is the truth:

Within the Obama administration, probably up to the Preisdent himself, there are many leftists who WANT Iran to get a nuclear weapon.

Except that I would change it to "leftists and Muslim sympathizers." I don't know if Limbert is actually a Muslim (although if he was actually out there shouting the Allah thing, it sounds pretty likely), but if he isn't, he's certainly a sympathizer, and they're just as bad.

Gee, Trita didn’t handle that one very well.
Sometimes you need to trust first impressions when you just see someone - mine was that he’s a slimeball - which he is.

Here’s more on Limbert -

John Limbert’s Résumé per your link is impressive; almost as much as Trita Paris’s official one, which I viewed on NIAC website almost 2 yrs ago.

In the context of an earlier comment on Limbert, an interesting bit on his CV is: “Award for Valor after captivity in Iran (1981)”

No he’s the worst possible choice.

Not if your goal is the utter destruction of The USA, the end of personal freedoms, and the total elimination of western civilization.

In that case:

“John Limbert is simply the best possible pick for that position.”

(although if he was actually out there shouting the Allah thing, it sounds pretty likely)

I might give him a pass on that. If I managed to escape the Embassy I'd try to blend in while working my way to the edge of the crowd, and ultimately the Canadian Embassy.

I say might, because from the reportage, it's by no means clear that was the case.

(BTW, Canada? Thanks again for your kind assistance in those dark days)

I’d be more inclined to think that without his subsequent track record.

Nully I perceive the day in the not too distant future where many Americans will be fleeing to Canada. I know that I and many of my family are ready to receive them. What a totally disasterous situation America is in. How pathetic it is that you cannot even have a fair election anymore.
And we, in Canada, need to work hard to make sure that we keep Harper and Company as the leaders of this country. I can’t wait to get together with my dear friend Marg to find out if she knows what Harper has been threatened with if he reveals Obama’s biography. I’m going to try my best tho. She is in contact with him and his wife ALL the time. It’s through her that I met him personally. CO

The ADC is former Senator James Abourezk's group. It's real comforting to know that the ADC [or AADC] has a seat at Obama's national security table /s :

2002 : (FORMER US SENATOR FROM S DAKOTA, JAMES ABOUREZK, PRAISES HEZBOLLAH {see IRAN}) The second-generation Lebanese-American seemingly has no problem exercising his first amendment rights. In 2002, Abourezk praised the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah and the "positive role it was playing in Lebanon.""[Hezbollah] was like the tool that forced the 'Israelis' to withdraw," Abourezk said. Also last year [2002], Abourezk suggested that the solution to Israel's terrorism problem would be to "get the hell out of the occupied territories.""It's not a wonder there are suicide bombers, it's a wonder there aren't many more," Abourezk said. ---- "20-Year-Old Republican Website Owner Sued by Former Democrat Senator, " By Jeff Gannon, Talon News, July 31, 2003

Anyway, there's more in my pile of stuff:

..After the infamous Baghdad Trio delegation of congress crtters turned from their trip to Baghdad that was apparently paid for by dictator Saddam Hussein, their buddy Kucinich formed an coalition of leftwing nuts of which Abourezk was a part to try to protect Saddam Hussein's regime.

Abourezk and the terrorist apologist, muslim congressman Rahall traveled to Iraq on a trp sponsored by south Africa's Nelson Mandela and met with Saddam Hussein's oil voucher bribe man Tariq Aziz in Sept 2002.

Abourezk is also involved with the very nasty group that was known as NION.

Abourezk took Nelson's money to go on the trip to coddle Saddam Hussein, but where does Nelson get some of his money?

In the run-up to the 1994 election in South Africa, Mandela raised prodigious sums of money for his African National Congress -- including from such undemocratic regimes as Libya, Saudi Arabia, Suharto's Indonesia -- and Saddam's Iraq.... So we have an ADC/AADC/AAADC mole in DHS thanks to Obama. ADC’s Abourezk is supportive of Hezbollah [see Iran] and receptive of travel handouts from Saddam Hussein & Mandela a supporter of assorted nasties ...
and also thanks to Obama, we have Eric Holder , who came to the rescue of Marc Rich, whose comapany GLENCORE was on the Saddam Hussein Iraqi Oil Voucher bribe recipient list:

Eric H. Holder Jr. - was a ‘’willing participant in the plan to keep the Justice Department from knowing about and opposing’’ a pardon for Marc Rich. - http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9D06E3DB1239F930A25750C0A9649C8B63
