From Sunlen Miller:
During an exclusive interview with ABC News Jake Tapper today, President Obama said that penalties are appropriate for people who try to free ride the health care system but stopped short of endorsing the threat of jail time for those who refuse to pay a fine for not having insurance.
What I think is appropriate is that in the same way that everybody has to get auto insurance and if you don't, you're subject to some penalty, that in this situation, if you have the ability to buy insurance, it's affordable and you choose not to do so, forcing you and me and everybody else to subsidize you, you know, there's a thousand dollar hidden tax that families all across America are -- are burdened by because of the fact that people don't have health insurance, you know, there's nothing wrong with a penalty.
Under the House bill those who can afford to buy insurance and dont pay a fine. If the refuse to pay that fine theres a threat as with a lot of tax fines of jail time. The Senate removed that provision in the Senate Finance Committee.

Ping.
His purple lips are moving again.
Tyranny.
I am going to be a felon. I will not buy government insurance, will not pay a fine and will resist forcefully a trip to jail......Bring it on....red
Unconstitutional; calling Mark Levin and Judge Nepolatino to file a lawsuit representing We The People of the United States of America.
But it's interesting that Liberals want jailtime for poor people who cannot afford insurance. I suppose they want this to happen, because they care so gosh darn much.
“Under the House bill those who can afford to buy insurance and dont pay a fine”.
...this brings up the age old question of “by who’s standards” can I afford it? Having money in the bank doesn’t mean I can afford anything. There are “nest eggs”, “college funds”, “emergency funds in case of unemployment”, “vacation funds”, “medical emergency funds”.
Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine that I could be arrested for not buying federally-mandated health insurance.
just imagine how many conservative insurance payments could just go missing.
hey young voters...
Auto insurance? Like have an accident and then buy insurance to get the insurance company to pay for your car?
Auto insurance? Like have an accident and then buy insurance to get the insurance company to pay for your car?
Therefore it becomes even more important to assure that Democrats remain unemployed for as long as possible, or at least until they are jailed for failing to buy insurance.
I forget, is everyone required to have the same auto insurance coverage? Do I have to buy my auto insurance from an in state company? Do I have money taken out of my paycheck if I don’t have the correct auto insurance policy?
I am sick of people using that argument to justify the rape of the American economy. It is a fale comparison and falls apart with even the briefest of glances.
“it’s affordable and you choose not to do so, forcing you and me and everybody else to subsidize you”
Gee, I wonder if he feels the same way about food stamps, section 8 rent subsidies, etc. I’ve got an idea; how about we put people in jail who don’t work? That would cut out welfare payments and with the decrease in taxes we could afford health insurance. These politicians are stupid on so many levels it’s hard to know where to start.
Obama’s political platform: Conform or go jail.
Hope the libs really like what they thrust upon all of us.
I suggest we all go to our U.S. Rep’s local office, tell them we are not going to comply with this law, and then ask them (1) how will the government know we do not have insurance?; (2) who will be coming to arrest us?; (3) when will they be coming to arrest us?; and (4) what will be the penalty?
Assume there are 100 million 'families' in the U. S.
$1,000 X 100,000,000 families X 10 years = $1,000,000,000 (one trillion dollars/ten years)
So, the hidden taxes Obama claims we've been subject to, over ten years, is LESS THAN the cost of ObamaCare over ten years. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm?
