Probably a written reprimand. Nothing more.

Nazis in action. When police abuse their power and act against the constitutional rights of citizens, they should be criminally prosecuted. But, this is Newark, organized criminal government at its finest.

Disturbing to say the least. As one who shoots breaking and spot news all the time I find it pretty outrageous that the officer thinks he has the right to prohibit a shooter on public property taking pictures of a public event in plain view of everyone. The video, IMHO, is pretty damning.
I have encountered this myself on a few occasions. Sadly, the newspaper I worked for usually had no stomach for fighting back when police or fire officials stepped over the line. The individual photographer can't do much, way too expensive. And the first response of the court is why, if the actions of the authorities was so out of line, wasn't the employer making the complaint. It's embarrassing to have to tell them your newspaper is a paper tiger, a woose of the first degree.
I will be interested in seeing how this one plays out. Perhaps the officer had a right to tell the photographer to put the camera away, but even then the shooter is owed an explanation.

I know the police are not the military but this sort of thing is why I’m not so confident the military will be on our side when what’s necessary becomes manifest.

They will redeploy him to other duty once the hoopla has subsided. That is, unless politicians want to get into the act.

Getting videoed doing something stupid is a firing offense. Destroy the evidence and you just get a reprimand.

Where was that? One of the tea parties?

Looks like a lot of cops now believe it.
